SEMA 2013: Sport JDM Shows Off Not-So-JDM LS2000

I nearly walked by this booth without paying it any attention. A company called “Sport JDM” is the absolute last place I would expect to find an LS. There is no engine less JDM than a Corvette motor. And yet, here we are. Gotta love SEMA.

The reason I love this is simply because stuffing a big lazy LS into the S2000 is the absolute antithesis to why that car was built in the first place. The original engine in the S2000 was 2-liter four cylinder that made about 250 horsepower at a bajillion rpm. I think it’s torque maxed out at 150 ft-lbs or so. It’s a zippy car that loves to rev. The LS is determinedly not that.

And that’s why this is awesome. The S2000 has always had a great chassis, but it was never really a fast car. I’m sure the 450 horsepower of an LS goes a looong way towards fixing that. Plenty of space left for a Vortech too.
