Camaro ZL1 with Vengeance Racing Drag Pack Runs 9 Second Passes

By -

A built TH400 automatic transmission is the secret to success for this Vengeance Racing built Camaro ZL1.

We all know that the Camaro ZL1 is fast. The fifth-gen Camaro ZL1 is packing a 6.2-liter supercharged LSA V8 engine, good for 580 horsepower and 556 lb-ft of torque. Out of box, these boosted beasts will crack 11 second quarter-miles.

But what if you want more? Or, actually, less, like sub-10 second passes. Well, tuning shops, like Vengeance Racing, got you covered. This particular ZL1 has their “Stage 4X” performance package, which is uniquely made for drag racing.

Under the hood, the LSA V8 gets a custom camshaft, upgraded pullies for the supercharger, headers and an X-pipe, and upgraded heat exchanger and meth injection. That engine has been tuned on C16 race gas. The standard transmission also gets replaced with an RPM-built TH400 automatic transmission with an upgraded converter. A Weld Racing drag pack at the back helps put that power to the ground.

It puts a lot of power down to the ground, and well, too. The results speak for themselves, with back-to-back high-9 second passes. The final results are a 9.96 @ 135 MPH and a 9.94 @ 134 MPH. Some rough math says that this ZL1 is now making closer to 700 horsepower, or about 600-ish WHP, give or take. It also sounds great doing it.
