This week’s Burnout video features what looks to be a very clean 1988 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am participating in a burnout competition at the Lucas Oil Street Machine & Muscle Car Nationals.
We’ve been following this 4th Gen. Firebird since it was a heads and cam, T56 car back in 2011 and it has gotten progressively faster as the owner made the swap to a TH400 and further honed the combo.
Both were game changers in their respective areas. Jim Hall and Hap Sharp founded Chaparral Cars in 1962 and shook the racing world at its core. Kazunori Yamauchi and Polyphony Digital created Gran Turismo and rocked the simulator world by bringing nearly realistic racing to homes everywhere thanks to the Sony Playstation.
This week’s Drag Race video features a 4th generation Pontiac Firebird packing an LS1 V8 racing against a late model Dodge Ram 2500. While you would think right away that an LS1 Firebird would thrash a heavy duty Dodge truck, this diesel powered Ram pickup definitely appears to have a little work done.
This week’s Drag Race video features a sick, 4th gen Pontiac Firebird Trans Am powered by a built LS1 in action on the drag strip. We get to see two runs by this wicked fast Firebird and on the first run, the competition – if you can really call it that – appears to be a 2005-2010 Ford Mustang GT.
This week’s Throwback video features what looks to be a show quality 1988 Pontiac Firebird Formula cleaning off the tires. Based on how this Firebird looks and sounds, I am guessing that it is either stock or very near stock, but that doesn’t prevent it from putting together a pretty solid burnout.
