The First 350ZL1

For the last decade or so, the Nissan 240SX was the go to cheap sports car for drift fans everywhere. The cars were light, nimble, and had a big enough engine bay to throw any type of engine you could possibly dream of into it. It was the perfect blank canvas for everyone that wanted to slay some tires. However, due to the cars popularity, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find one without damage, or that hasn’t already been modified in some way or another.

With it becoming rarer to find a good car, the price of these supposedly cheap sports cars has been climbing. This has left many in search of a new platform for their tire shredding needs. Thankfully, as the price for the 240SX goes up, another Nissan’s is going down, the 350Z.

When released, the Nissan 350Z was heralded as the second coming of the Nissan Z car. However, the car was a bit heavy, very wide, and its engine lacked character. Now however, that same Z is cheap on the used market, and like its 240SX predecessor, its engine bay is large enough to fit whatever engine you’d like as shown by the car you see above.

Inside this Nissan 350Z lurks the heart of a monster. Specifically, a supercharged monster. Built by CBI Streetcars, the shop decided that what this 350Z needed was the LSA V8 out of the Camaro ZL1. But they didn’t stop there either. The engine is modified to run 15psi of boost, and on E85 fuel, giving the new 350ZL1 ever more grunt.

So what do you all think? Will the 350Z be the next 240SX in the drift world? And do you approve of the use of this LSA?Chime in with your thoughts on the forum. >>
