Turbo LS Civic Is Far More Than an Engine Swap

Entire Corvette drivetrain is stuffed underneath this Honda Civic Hatchback’s unsuspecting body. Oh, and it has a turbo, too.

Not too long ago, we brought to your attention an LS4 swapped Honda Civic Type R. Unfortunately, that car was just the pipe dream of an Instagram artist. However, this one is no such thing. This is as real as it gets, and it is ready to wage war on just about anything. While lifting the hood may convince you that this Civic is a carefully laid out turbo LS, we assure you it is far more than meets the eye.

Dragzine outlines this remarkable build in a recent article, and to say it caught our attention is a drastic understatement. This car is far more than an engine swap. While making a front-wheel-drive car rear-wheel-drive is an undertaking in its own right, this takes it a step further. This Civic sits on a tube chassis surrounding the entire Corvette engine, torque tube, and transmission assembly. That’s right; this isn’t a Civic at all. It’s a Corvette with a Civic’s body.

Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing

A stock LS just wouldn’t cut it at this point either, right? Of course not. To remedy that problem, the 6.0-liter LS has been brought out to 427 cubic inches. Big block displacement is cool and all, but what could possibly the cherry on top of this screaming sundae? A turbocharger should suffice. Indeed, that too is the conclusion reached by the owner of this monstrosity. If you’re having trouble imagining what this could possibly be used for, we can put your unrest to an end with an assembly of four letters and numbers. TX2K.

Texas 2K is loaded down with dozens of cars pushing remarkable numbers of power to the ground. Surpassing the 1,000 horsepower barrier is as common as it gets around those parts, and the Civette is no exception. In its current format, it is making an astonishing 1,650 horsepower. While that number is enough to make the hairs on the back of your neck stick up, the weight is even crazier. At only 2,400 pounds, this turbo LS beast is insulted by the classic term “pocket rocket.” We’re hard-pressed to find a proper term for it, so we’ll just go with “pure insanity.”

Built for Nothing but Speed

An amassment of other modifications have been made to compliment the insanity parked not only under the hood but the entire body. In addition to modifications made to the manually shifted transmission to support the obscene power, it also features an 8.50-second certified roll cage, Weld Wheels, Corbeau seats, and a Wilwood brake setup.

Needless to say, this remarkable blend of domestic power and import styling is a remarkable feat of engineering. We cannot wait to see this thing blasting down the road at Texas 2K 2021. We expect quite the show with all that power tucked inside such a lightweight and aerodynamic package. While we don’t have a solid guess on what kind of numbers it will put down, we are positive it will make just about every jaw in the tri-state area drop.
