We Cant Un-See This F-Body Firebird Trying To Drag Race On 30’s

There’s just so much going on here.

We understand that everyone has their own style, but sometimes you have to question someone’s intentions with a build.

Clearly, if you are going for looks, we don’t really mind that at all. Some folks like the look of an all blacked-out car, others like a low-rider and others like chrome. But to try to make a drag car from an F-body on 30 inch rims? That’s where we start to wonder. Posted on the JMalcom2004 Facebook page, this early fourth-gen Firebird is equal parts terrifying and awe-inspiring.

Straight from JMalcom2004’s mouth: “Now you don’t see this at the track everyday! It even has fender exit exhaust!” No kidding.

When a hood scoop like this one is a secondary talking point, you know the car is a bit of an oddity. We aren’t sure exactly what’s under the scoop, or what it feeds, but the fender exit exhausts possibly suggest a turbo set up. Except you can’t hear a turbo.

Regardless of what’s under the hood, antics in the burnout box prove the setup isn’t really meant for drag racing. Just the simple act of a burnout and the driver nearly loses it.

Obviously, the car doesn’t really “launch” off the line, frankly, because there’s no way it could. It would either tear the rubber off the wheel, just spin in place or most likely break the wheel off their spokes. It does manage to get to the other end of the strip, though. Eventually.

What we are thankful for is that more often than not, we see quality drag racing builds at LS1tech. This Firebird is a reminder that not everyone has the same idea of what’s cool.
