Whipplecharged Camaro ZL1 Knocks on the Door of 1,000 WHP

By -

Who knew that a larger Whipple supercharger and E85 fuel would make big power? Oh, that’s right, everyone.

The Camaro ZL1 is already the most powerful Camaro production car ever made. With 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, no one is saying it’s power deficient. Well, actually, there do appear to be people crazy enough to want more power from the ZL1. Because that’s where Vengeance Racing comes in, offering a rather insane upgrade package for the ZL1.

Vengeance Racing swaps out the LT4 V8’s standard supercharger for a 2.9-liter Whipple and then builds the engine around that blower. Specifically, this LT4 has custom heads, a big cam; meth injection; a flex fuel kit, to take advantage of E85 fuel, upgraded heat exchangers, a big 103mm throttle body, upgraded boost pulley and, the typical intake, headers and exhaust upgrade. Oh, and don’t forget a heavy-duty triple-disc clutch for that Tremec TR6060 manual transmission to handle the abuse.

The car sounds gnarly, with the video beginning from the back end of the Camaro. It only gets more nutty from there, because, on E85, this ZL1 now produces 934 RWHP and 871 RWTQ. Those are some pretty insane numbers for a rear-wheel drive, manual transmission street car on street tires. And, of course, by insane, we mean a lot of tire smoking fun.

Now, can someone point us to any videos of this car putting in work? We’re guessing this thing is an animal on the Mexican interstate.
