The answer in most cases is: "because that's what we wanted to do".

My car is a daily driver, doesn't cam, gets 20+ mpg and has all the creature comforts. At the same time I can change the tires and make consistent 10 second passes. Which is exactly what I wanted it to do.

Thats what Im doing. A stock 6.0L with a cam and my Mustang should run well into the tens. I paid $500 for the motor.
I have been the small block Ford route a hundred times and Im all set with them for a while.
Ill bet with a 150 pill and some light weight wheels and tires you could go some 10.50s. Very impressive for such a mild combo.

Update: 10.73 @127 1.51 60ft

I gotta work on that 60ft. This 2800 stall is hurting my short time.

a non nitrous Mild LS1 Im sure can be made to run 10s..

Just a stall, cam only and gears on an auto and weight reduction can most probably do it, without using nitrous

the 224 and 5.3 H/C car running 10s is good, but I think there are milder setups out there (not trying to steal your thunder)... Hell I have a 402 Z28, M6 3.73s and I still havent ran 10s yet..

there are many options out there.

Thanks! I hoping I'll be able to do it the next track outing. I feel like I haven't gotten the most out of it yet.

I think you will be really happy with that 6.0 swap. Imo I don't know why anyone still runs small block fords in those cars anymore. LOL those cars downright fly with ls based engines. A frined of mine runs in 10s with a bone stock ls2 on HP! Good luck with your build!

Update: 10.63 @ 126 1.52 60ft spinning

Loosened up the suspension a little and got it to go 1.50, but ran out of nitrous on that pass.

Dude realise im not here to try and **** ya off or start a war just was wondering is all. You have a very nice setup.. But the nitrous might get expensive after while! My buddies old 2002 WS6 had a ATI S/C on it and it was a beast. Seem like we replaced bearings once a year with the Nitrous.
Asking LS guys why we use nitrous is like asking a Ford guy why they like to stroke their ****. Answer is easy. We have the cubes to get it done from the get go, you guys don't. I will gladly run you down the track motor for motor and see what the outcome is. I'm not picking a fight either. I'm a former mustang guy and Ford does have a larger aftermarket for their Stangs but I believe that Chevy built my 1999 Corvette the right way and I don't need as many options.

Show me ONE Mustang on stock unmodified suspension that can pull a
mid 1.4 sixty foot. I can show you at least one Vette that does it pretty consistantly.

Sounds like a nice setup. It does seem like your combo is more geared toward running n/a rather than on spray given the 4200 stall and 4.10 gear. I think you can definitely reach your goal of running 10s on motor.

26" tires, 6spd rear, stock heads, stock suspension, full exhaust, torquer v2 cam, 3600 yank, and 150 wet shot pulling 9* of timing.

10.6 @ 129.6

it was kindof a sleeper...

Since then I've went with 325 M/T out back and skinnies up front (prostars), and just put a PTC nitrous converter in it a few wks ago. Gonna spray the 200 hit this season and run race fuel
