Default My basic 10 second plan... please pic it apart.

I haven't even bought the car yet... But I know what I want in terms of performance.

I am thinking this so far from what little research I have done. Please review and comment and please be very specific on parts and reasons.

Thanks!!!

heads: AFR
cam: nitros cam... tsp (I think thats the one I was reading about)
intake: FAST 90mm
Exhaust: Kooks or other LT, SLP center exit rear(no cats, maybe a high flow)
Fuel: Prober injectors, pump and supporting
TNT: 150-200 shot

suspension: Haven't reasearched a lot here... but assume many upgrades
Clutch: again I assume some kind of street clutch

I want mid to high 11's on motor and hope to pull 10's on the bottle.

So please review what I have been thinking and pull it apart and suggest a clear path to my goals.

Thanks for your knowledge.

Sounds like a good start, don't forget about tires.

Get the wieght down, go with full bolt ons and concetrate on the suspesion and you should be pretty close to 10s with a TNT 150 shot. I've been struggling with transmission problems all year but I still got it to slip into the 10s on the TNT 150 shot for a few passes (car has run as fast as 128mph too!). Next years goal is 10.20 on the stock bottom end with the addition of H/C, TH400 & 9" rear. I'm more than happy with what the car has done for a simple and affordable set up.

Not totally true, yes the stock 10 bolt is weak, but I have a buddy that beefed up his rear & cuts 1.5's & 1.6's all day & the car runs 10.70's on the bottle. It's best to swap rear's, but not totally necessary, just IMHO.

Yea, tires and a rear end will are expected as well. I read about a guy making a 8.8 stang rear for our cars... I kinda liked the sound of that. Its light, very strong and plenty of support in the aftermarket.

Anyone still shifting gear running tens? I know many go auto, but I want to keep rowing.. its just fun.

yea, rowing the gears and runnin 10's is fun and theres alot of us doing it still, with good heads and decent cam you can see low 11's no problem if everything is beefed up corectly, and you have all the suspension upgrades. depending on you weight maby even 10's. 10's on the bottle should be extremely easy.

That is what I wanted to hear!!! >

Do ya think that ported LS6 H/I would do the trick with the right cam, or would it be smarter to spend the money on the beefier AFR heads? (can of worms open)

geronimo66. What you didn't read correctly was - IF - and big IF the suspension, weight, motor, is done RIGHT. You'll never make it, if you go into it half way. You MAY get 1 or 2 run in, but to be consistent you need to do more than throw a 150 shot on a stock motor, stock weight, stock suspension, stock rear-end with stock tires and hope to get 10's. AND than IF and WHEN you get 10's, you'll want more. Low 10's and than 9's. You'll see, it is NOT that easy. Again IMO. BUT it has taken a gradual build up over 4 years. I'm hoping for consistgent 9's this year with weight reduction and a little more gas.
