Ran my first 10
It was a great day. Thanks to Brian for coming along, videoing, and trying to talk me down
. Hell I barely ate any breakfast because of the tension. Now if you know me and I can't eat you know it's bad
.I was so wound up that I completely blew the first run. Had way to much pressure in the tires . It was super ugly. Came out at 4k, had a little rev limiter action when the tires lit up, missed 2nd and a little more rev limiter when she blew the tires off again
. I just coasted out the rest of the run after that. I wasn't expecting to light those MT DR's so easily.Needless to say there was some foul language flying Nerves were now settled after that f-up. Went right back to the line after loosening the shocks a click all the way around. Still the same tire pressure. 19lbs cold. I tried it again with a bigger burnout. This was set based on some peoples success at that pressure.
Got out a little better but still spinning. I peddled it a bit and hooked at the top of first. Then she took off. I wasn't really expecting to run what she did with the garbage 60'. 2.0 60', 11.25 @ 131 mph
Pete (one of the Mach1 fellas) said I had way too much pressure in the tires and recommended dropping them down quite a few psi. After those launches and seeing how much of the tire was making contact, I agreed. Dropped them down to 16 lbs cold.
Came out at 44-4500 figuring she'd hook and bog if i didn't bring the revs up a little. The tires lit but not as bad as before. At least I was going forward this time. Run felt pretty good but I definitely wasn't expecting to run a great #.
I was happy with it though
. Picked up 1 mph even with a better 60' and a little warmer temps. 1.83 60', 10.90 @ 132mphHad some food and hung out some. It got a little warmer and the sun came out and warmed the track a bit. It was around 60 degree's out.
Came back at it with 13.5 lbs in the tires and the front shocks loose another click. Wanted to see if I could chop a few more tenths off the 60' and ET. Ended up chopping some teeth off my posi
. Ring a pinion are alright though.I knew I'd break something. I was just happy I got some "decent" passes out of it. The car has alot left in it. This was the first time playing with the car with how she sits now. I've got somewhat of a handle on the adjustments and hope to improve quite a bit on the next time out.
