Default 10's not impressive anymore?

Seems we have quite a few in here and many more with different brands of cars. Seems it use to be 10's was BAD *** but not anymore, to get any attention you need a sub 10 second pass, anyone else agree or disagree??

10's are still impressive to me, but this site just happens to have a ton of fast cars on it

It depends on what kinda crowd you hang with. A lot of younger kids around here think 11-12 second street cars are insane but we all know better than that. 10s deffinatly aren't what they used to be. Seems it takes a solid 9 second street car to raise the eyebrows of real enthusiasts these days. The funny thing is around here, some guys are real big talkers when it comes to numbers but, none of them have wanted to throw down and race a little stock 346 nitrous car. lol.

10's are definately impressive no matter where you go... but i agree it's nowhere near as impressive as they used to be.

i think it's more the setup vs. timeslip that impresses people. like, cam only cars doing 10's is impressive.... but a heads/cam and power adder car doing 10's isn't as impressive.

unless of course it's GM muscle doing bottom 10's with 2.73 gears cam only and spray. that's F*ckin' cool!

Still impressive to me, especially when it is done in a manual transmission GTO... not sure how many M6 GTOs are running 10s, but I know I will be with the new setup.

Hell I just want 10.3s at 137+MPH Considering I am running 11.1 at 128-130MPH now, I don't forsee that being a problem with the new setup.

Technology has made going fast allot easier and cheaper than it was 10 years ago without a doubt. IMO 10's in a real street car are still impressive. Today it is not uncommon to see mid-9 to high-8 second street cars with working A/C and the like. Just goes to show you that technology can be a wonderful thing. What I find inpressive is when the owner is also the driver and knows his/her car and is able to wrench on it. THAT is truly impressive regardless of the ET.

Depends, low 13 second cars impress me, but not amaze me, 12 second cars are even more fun than 13's, 11's are impressive, 10's are badass, and 9's are amazing.

Around our neck of the woods an 11s street car is amazing to most people. A daily driven 11s car will be sweet.

10's with street tires or drag radials full interior impresses teh hell out of me. And scares the crap out of anyone who goes in a ride in it for the most part. But lets behonest to hit 9's or better with street tires with out destroying the suspension so it can't corner is almost impossible

My goal way back before my build was to have a 11 sec street car. My first trip to the track was a full weight pass with factory heavy rims and full interior with stock clutch, stock suspension-11.5 @119
Got to the goal to easy. Now the goal is 10's NA then hit it with a TNT 150 shot. Once I get it all ironed out I may be out of the 10 second club as quick as I got in but for now I'm still in the 11 sec club. Everytime I have free time to go to the track it rains
I would say 10's are still impressive. I will be there next trip to the track, if not NA than on spray. Either way I'm in next outing

It's all what you are used to. I think 10s out of a real street car are fuggin amazing! Back in the day the D Gas Vette & C Gas Camaro I pitted for ran 10s and they were full-on, dedicated race cars. To this day when I go to the track, the Pro Street race cars are still running 9s or 10s. And there my 4000lb full dress, street legal TA sits with radials on all 4 corners running right with half of them.....AND getting 20mpg to boot.

Anyone that doesn't think a 10 sec car is fast just needs to go for a ride to find out.

10's are impressive, im 17, yea I want a 9 second street truck(im building the truck in sig nicknamed LSX-treme) yea, id love it, just to have to cruise every once in a while and bracket race, i think that anything sub 14 can be impressive however, depending on the vehicle, as i once saw stated, most of us here are CAR enthusiests, not just GM chevy or Pontiac enthusiests, and if you can take an 18 second vehicle stock, and build it to run consistant 14's, i say you dun a good job to get it that far, but, what the hell do i know, anyways, sorry for hijacking the thread

andy/97blkz - i kinda agree with you and kinda dont.

the difference is the crowd you hang out with. just because you finally decided to join us 4th gen guys into the 10s doesnt mean its "not a big deal" lol

in the tampa area we have had quite a few fast cars. a big difference is down here in FL we spray the fug out of anything and have a great track. the only thing holding us back is the DA sucks most of the year.

for us, you better not even run your mouth unless you are a street driven 10 second street car. hell, you better do it on radials if you really want bragging rights

but that is just who your peers are.

See, that's the same mentality that me and most of my friends have.

Don't get me wrong, a 10 or 11 second street car is quick. I'll give anyone that runs those numbers a ton of respect and even if you don't run those numbers I'll still give you respect if you have a clean car and know your ****. Hell, even if your car is quick for what it is I'll give you props. But if you come out with a 10 second car and think your a god, you have another thing coming. If it were 1990 the mentality would be alittle different.

My way of thinking has nothing to do with the numbers I have run, I know better than that. Even if I had a 9.50 car I can still pick out a handfull of street cars in this area that would run door to door with me or better. FWIW: you'll hardly ever catch these guys shooting their mouths off.

Bottom line is, I think that 10s aren't what they used to be. Still some what impressive, but much more common these days.
