Default Corvettes in the 10's?!?!

Im looking for 10.99 second and faster C5 Vettes. Im curious as to what you have done with the rearend and tranny. Here is what I have so far:

DTE Brace for the rear.
Lingenfelter hardened drivers side half shaft.
Spec 3+ Clutch with upgraded hydraulics and steel flywheel.
Short throw shifter.
LT Headers and full O/R exhaust.
LS6 intake and TB.
SLP BlackWing Air intake

Im about to install a cam to the tune of 237/241 - .608/.611 - 112 LSA along with the supporting mods like springs and hardened pushrods and such.

I wanna know what problems I will incur on my quest into the 10's with this car.

Thanks in advanced for any info thats shared.

Daniel

With that cam and a good tune you just be in the 10's no problem. The tune is the key. Good luck.

Thanks, man! Im probably doing the heads next month. Im trying to do it one step at a time so I dont get bored with the car. So on stock heads and this cam with a good tune, you think it will be in the 10's? Is there any driveline probles I need to look out for or be prepared for?

Most common is breaking the left output shaft. I ran a hardened one only for a long time and was fine. You can break the main shaft in the trans, the rear casing and the gears in the rear alsoas well as the right output shaft. The key is to learn how to lanch smooth and slip the clutch (avoiding wheelhop).

10's can be had with about 400rwhp/gears alot of seat time and a good 60'. It 's much more challenging to run 10's full weight with stock suspension.

Well I weighed my car in at 3150 with a full tank of gas and a few things from a move of residence in the back. So if im at about a half tank of gas and plus m 240... I would say thats a half decent race weight. I dont think I will be doing gears anytime soon. Im sticking a big cam in it next week and we will see where that takes me. Heads and nitrous will be next month or June.

A buddy of mine has broken into the 10 second range on two different setups with his C5. Last year, he went 10.98 @ 124. G5x3 Camshaft, Stock LS1 Intake/Heads. NX150, LG Longtubes, RPM Tranny and a Fuddle 3600. Stock rear with 2.73's. Ran ET Streets on stock wheels.

Its been to the track once this season, still has some issues to be lined out. Hes running a single turbo setup this year, but ran the first test passes on the Nitrous convertor from last year. Went 10.85 @ 126. TC was flashing to 5500 or so. New stall is much tighter, so should run deeper into the 10s now.

Thats awsome! Im going to do a 150 shot and I have the cam and supporting mods going in this Friday. Im going to leave it at that and see what I run. Im thinking of a 427 with TT76 or a singl big turbo. Im back and forth on what setup I want to do.

I snuck in with bolt ons and a cam and tune in an A4 with beefed up trans and 4.10 rear on MT ET Streets.

The following year added Dart 225 heads and fast lsx intake and went 10.7

This year with a 402 LS2 and just a few passes we are at 10.51

Not sure what area you are in but if you are near NJ, this will be the weekend at E-town to check out 10-second Vettes

I'm hoping to get get close with the following: Callaway Honker CAI, Dynatech LT's (catless x-pipe), Corsa Indy's, G5X3 112 LSA, SLP Pulley, 3:73 Gears (RPM), Yank SS3600 stall converter , MT's. and a good tune. If this doesn't get me close then hopefully some TFS heads will do the trick down the road.
