2nd time out project OVRMYHD goes 11.82 at 115
We were hoping for better but are glad to see 11's. The first time out our best was a 12.05 at 115 with very little traction on junk Nitto's. The best 60 ft time was on the 12.05 run, a 1.91. She pulled 94 mph in the 1/8th. The car was also hitting the rev limiter which was set at 7,000 on the 2-3 shift. Turns out I didn't mention to the tuner that I was shifting it myself, which we now believe was confusing the computer. Dad was letting it shift itself but was spinning at part throttle off the line and then it would prematurely shift to second. Then when he hit it again it would downshift to 1st, spin, and then shift (for the second time) into 2nd. His best pass was a 12.25 on that first outing in her.
After getting some well worn 255/50/16 Mickey Thompsons on her, Dad took her back to the track. Tracey (the tuner) had lowered the shift points prior at my request. Yup, call me stupid. Anyway, Dad cut two 1.74 60 ft times as the car short-shifted itself to the 2 best runs of 11.82 at 115 and 11.89 at 115. Dad manage a 7.58 1/8 time at 93 mph.
The 9 bolt is now on life support. It's whining loudly, especially under deceleration. Good news though, there is a 3.90 gear on it's way and an install kit with new bearings and all.
Before we get her back to the track the gear will be in (it currently has stock 3.27's in it), the shifts will be programmed to 6,800 or 6,850 (they were originally at 6,700), the front sway bar will be removed or unbolted at least, and the air will be better. Da was 2,700 for it's first outing and 1,900 for the second. Anyone have any guesses on what she'll do? I have no clue what can be gained by the gears. We were going thru at maybe 5,500 rpm before. Tracey thinks we will be at around 6,400 or 6,500 with the 3.90's. I also don't know how much we lost by lowering the shift points. He may have had them at 6,400. She makes good power to 6,700.
I'm also already considering switching to a 4,400 converter with a higher str, maybe 2.45. It is currently a 2.3 str 3,600 Edge stall. Any thoughts on that?

with the gear, more converter, and moving the shift points back up, it will probably gain quite a bit..3mph or so and a few tenths.. quite possibly more....
