Thanks everyone! Car was about 3,070# without me in it. That's still with factory wheels, steel hood, crash bars in the doors, factory seat, and air bags. I finished the 8.8 install and believe I added about 100#. I have a set of 799's sitting around so my next step is heads and cam. Hopefully get a 10.99 out of that.
Awesome times with those mods. Very encouraging to me. I guess if goes without saying that your happy with the Toyo TQ's.
For what they are I'm very pleased. The Strange SA drag shocks helped get the weight on them though.
hfthe3rd - I took off the front metal bumper, cut inner fenders, swapped to a manual seat, remove carpet, all HVAC items, ac compressor, rear speakers, etc. I still have factory trans am wheels, steel hood, air bags, door crash bars, front speakers and stereo, rear bumper.
Finally made it out to try the 8.8 and slicks. Stepped up from 3.42 10 bolt to a 3.73 explorer 8.8 with MT 8.5" pro drag radials. Milan was busy so I only made 2 passes. I'm planning on going again this Friday to work with the setup more. First pass I did everything the same as I did when I had the Toyo's on. Left just off of idle and went 1.56 60' to an 11.72. Since I hooked the first pass, I decided to get on the converter some. Brought it up to 3k and let it go. 1.52 60' with an 11.66. LOVE the sticky tires. Feels awesome taking off.
That makes me feel a bit better about my car. LOL.
You mentioned that you removed the front metal bumper. Can you elaborate on this?
This thing without the material removed. I'm running sux2bu ram air so I had to remove it. front bumper with a lot cut out of it.
Here's the ram air setup:
