M6 or Auto?

M6 or Auto?
I know that this is the wrong forum, but but posting in one or the other tranny forums i would get more biased opinions, i think. I am wanting to sell my 98 Z28 for an 01-02 SS, but I am doubting on whether or not to get another m6 or get an auto. It would be a DD car. Which one is better on gas milage? Also what would be a good torque convtr. to get since it would be a DD, and by the way i know almost nothing about the auto's and torque convtrs. I am hoping to be modding soon after getting the SS and just trying to find what would be best. I have an ultimate goal of running low 11's or high 10's.

i've always heard of people w/ spds breaking their rearends w/ those times you want to achieve. I heard that autos or more quicker and consistent w/ converter. I love driving the 6spd but if you want to go the track and be running w/ DRs go w/ the auto.

From what you said, I'd suggest an auto.....and I daily drive and drag race a 6-speed 99 TA H/C car....
An auto is more consistent, easier on the rear end (read as "Less likely to leave you needing a 12 bolt or 9 inch"), and in stop and go traffic, its MUCH less of a pain in the ***, no clutching, moving 5 feet, clutching moving 5 feet, clutching moving 5 feet, clutching....well, yeah, you get the idea....
Get an auto, put a 3400-3600 stall in it, build the transmission to handle the power, full bolt ons and and cam should put you in the high 11's if done right (and still be fairly tame for a DD car), whereas a lil shot of juice could put you in the 10's, or a wilder cam, gears, and a bigger converter could net you some low 11's NA....
I'm no expert, but theres my .02...
