How to fix bangin y pipe?
My wife and I installed my headers and ory last weekend! Yes, my wife did alot of work. Well we didn't replace the mounts. I know, bad idea. So now the y pipe hits the car. How could I fix this? Could I have a rod welded in there to keep the pipe from hitting? Not sure if it would bend or break because of the motor moving. Is there a hanger I can by to put in there? Any help would be great. The car sounds awesome with the headers, ory and lm1 cat back!!!

I had the same problem. To fix this, I installed solid motor mounts. There is now no movement at all on the exhaust pipes or engine. You might be able to get a similar outcome by installing poly motor mounts, if you are afraid to go solid.
I have solid mounts on my daily driver. No problems. No aggravation. Don't believe all the "you won't be able to stand the vibrations" bullshit.

you can get a mufflex bumpstop hanger or you can go to a parts store get some hose and some 3" clamps and put them between the ypipe and the floor where the ypipe hits.
thats what I did on my car and many others have done the same.
might not be the best method but it works

^^ yeaa do what he said, pretty simple fix. instead of having to go back in there and replace the motor mounts. my y pipe banged when i had the stock exhaust. once i changed it to the LM2, the banging was gone. i guess my motor mounts were still good.....

aight heres what I did.
1. went to advance auto parts and bough 2feet of 3/4 heater hose. (you dont need that much i had about 1 feet left after but just incase)
2. i bough (4) 3" or 3-1/2" clamps (again this may vary depending in how many locations your ypipe is banging)
3. I cut some 3"-4" pieces of heater hose and then I slided them in into the clamp (look at the pic at the bottom but note that the clamp in the picture is not a 3" and I didnt cut the hose at all I just took that pic quick to show what it kinda will look like.
4. put the clamps with hose in between the top of the ypipe and the floorboards. then tighten up the clamp with a flat head screw driver.
