Default bad 02 sensors affect performance?

I posted here a few monthes ago, with a question. Before i did my 3400 stall convertor and performabuilt stage 2 tranny, I ran 12.9 at 109ish, and after my stall and tranny i ran a 12.8 @ 105. I couldnt figure out what was wrong, But now after diagnosing the car I find out that Both my 02 sensors ( located in the header collectors) are bad. Do you guys think this could be the reason My cars performance started to suck? I guess what I am asking, can bad o2 sensors kill a cars performance?

They work at idle so it's hard to say.I ran my old SS on a bad 02 sensor and i do not think it hurt it.

anyone else? i thought they might make the car lean or rich out..causing it to lose somepower or what not. I know OBDII is pretty sensitive to that kind of stuff compared to a OBDI.

Bad O2's will make it run in open loop all the time, which is usually rich. This can foul plugs, and make it run bad.

With good O2's it will go into OL at startup, at WOT, and on Decel/DFCO. All other times it runs in Closed Loop.

The only way to find out is replace them and head back to the track.
