Default Please help!! Where should I be? I need hope...

Ok, I'm a newb when it comes to a manual F-body at the track. My mods are in my sig. The dyno was prior to the ported TB. I know it's probably not that significant, but just trying to paint the most accurate picture for anyone who may be able to give me hope.

I had some really crappy all season tires on the back of my car. They weren't even enough to hold traction at 4200+ft elevation where I'm stationed at. Anyway a couple weeks ago, I bought a set of 245/50 Nitto DRs and headed to the track. Dropped the tires to 28psi after they/the car cooled down pulled into the staging lanes. The first run was junk because the launched was crap, and my shift light worked for the 1-2 shift, but for the following shifts it was not working. I didn't realize this until I was at about 6500RPM in 2nd. I thought maybe I didn't see it because the sun was shining through the window/T-top right on my shift light. Same story for the 3-4 shift, that and my clutch was slipping so I just threw it in neutral and coasted the last couple hundred feet.

Now for my second and albeit shitty, still my better run. After my clutch acting up on the first run I decided to just avoid a big burn out. I backed into the water, revved and dumped the clutch. Stayed in it just long enough to "haze" the Nittos. Staged, 1500 RPM...I wasn't worrying about R/T, mainly just technique since I've never taken a manual car to the track. On the green I dumped the clutch. Tires bit, car bogged, then as soon as the RPMs satrted to climb the clutch started slipping some. I had to play with the throttle to get it to quit. Knowing for sure the shift light wasn't working this run I watched the tach. I had to granny shift because the clutch felt VERY sloppy when I would shift, kind of like it didn't want to disengage, and when I would let it out and mash the gas again it would slip for a second. Anyway here's my times for the second run.

Please, be gentle...
FWIW, the DA was 3070ft that evening. It was hot and pretty humid.
60'---------- 2.20
330'-------- 5.861
1/8--------- 8.799 @ 84.15mph
1000'------ 11.287
1/4-------- 13.30 @ 107.92

I think with a new clutch I should be deep into the 12's with a better DA. I'm not scared to heat the tires and launch hard. I'd really like input from the experts though.

TIA,
Jason

I think with a new clutch and some practice you with hit the 12's I don't think you will hit them very deeply, but mid to high 12's I believe.

good runs,, get that 60' time right at or under 2.0 and you should see 12`s. your mph is right there. i took my car out,,stock minus fipk and bfg dr`s ran a 12.95 @108.85 on a 2.0 60'. you get the 60' down,, your e.t. drops nicely. goodluck

Thanks for the replies and encouragement. It was really frustrating, but given the factors surrounding the 2 runs I made I'm not too disappointed. Soon the new clutch will go in, a line lock so I can do a good burnout without tearing **** up any more than I have to and I'll try it again. I really think if I could've pulled out the first run it may have been better than my second one.

107.5MPH is worth a high 12. Every 3MPH take off half a second for a stocker. Get some sticky tyres and practice your launch. Try launching at 4000RPM and work your way up from there. The best times on M6 come from 6000RPM launches - but you gotta have a clutch that can handle that. The stock clutch is NO GOOD FOR DRAG RACING.
