Default Whats with my mph?

So I have never ran my car other than totally stock which ran a 13.56 @ 102mph 2.1 60ft. I ran it last night for the first time modded and it ran 12.54 @ 105mph 1.83 60ft. How the hell did I knock off half a second and only gain 3mph? What am I doing wrong? The car barely spun off the line, barely. Mods are below:

Lid, ported tb, LS6 intake, LTs, X-pipe, Yank 3800

Also I have 2.73 gears.

i think i asked someone this before. they say when u hook really good, your mph wont be as high. i ran a 13.22 @ 111mph with a 2.24 60' then another time ran a 12.71@111mph with a 1.9 60' but i think stalled autos are alot different than M6's
Ive noticed that stalled autos, mod for mod with a m6 might/will run faster, but have a slightly slower trap speed

gearing is probably a factor too
A4 M6
1st 3.06 1st 2.66
2nd 1.62 2nd 1.78
3rd 1.00 3rd 1.30
4th .70 4th 1.00
5th .74
6th .5

as you cross the line, just getting into 3rd? we are already into 4th (closer gear ratios and rear ratios too) 3.42 rear

I'd be betting it was the converter.

Hey buddy, im in the same boat.....Stock was a 13.81 @ 102, now with full boltons, 3600 stall, 3.73's, and even cammed i went 12.90 @ 106. My et does not bother me because i was on shitty sumitomo radials, but 106 F****** sucks. Its not tuned, but i dont see me pickin up that much more MPH. Hell my buddies 01 SS M6 went 109 on just a lid

I bet you need a dyno tune. Believe me when I say I know exactly how you feel. I was running 13.4 @ 104 with lid and catback. Then I added a SSF3500 and Nittos and was looking for high 12's. Instead I found 13.3 @ 101 all day long on 1.8 60's and no spinning off the line. I thought the converter was junk but then I decided to add LT's, ported TB and get a dyno tune. I went from 13.3 @ 101 (dead hooking) to 12.8 @ 109 with so much wheel spin I had to let off the gas and get back on it. Turns out my converter was fine but my car was running wicked lean.

I bet a dyno tune right now adds 3-5 mph to your trap and makes launching the car a challenge. It certainly can't hurt anything (other then the check book).

Good luck.

dustin, it appears that your ride needs tuned. i have a lid, ls6 intake, 4k stall, and LTs + x dumped @ axle..i went from 103.5 with a lid and gears to 109 after adding the intake and exhaust.

i'm still untuned, also.

Before my major mods all I had in the car was an SS3600, Drag radials, headers, 2.73 gears and went 12.8 at 106. So your numbers seem correct and when I was stock I ran 13.5 at 103. So a 3 mph gain also.

13.2 @ 106 with lid and LM & 2.73. Your MPH is telling you how much HP your car has. That's why it's mostly consistent. Your tourqe converter just helped you get off the line. Now you need the HP to keep it moving. Get a tune..... Especially with your Long tubes; like most people said you will probably pick up 3-5 MPH.

I would never get a mailorder tune. Dynotune by a good LS1 tuner is the only way to go IMO.

I think you meant a full second. 13.56 - 12.54 = 1.02 seconds.
Plus look at your 60ft 2.1 - 1.83 = .27 tenths

So with the same mph lets say knocking off almost 3 tenths you would have ran a 13.1ish. They say for ever tenth in your 60ft is 2 tenths on the top end. I would say it's a little less than that. Now add another 3 mph to your mph and I could see where the difference went. But I will agree to an extent, running mid 12's at only 105 is not the norm but it shows that it you that your 60ft was a big factor.

Stock I trapped 106-107 and a few 108's

I was trapping 109 and running 13.0 all day with air bellow, lid, catback,Hypertech tune, on street tires with 2.2 60's. Somethings definitly up with those traps.

. Most people dont have the option off running out to the local dyno tuner and have their car done. As a matter of fact most of us dont have a close one.

As for mail order tunes, I had one done on my TA after I cammed it and took a cam only ls1 ta from a 113 trap speed str8 to a 118 on dr's-120 on street tires. After having PCM for less tune the car I can run 12.0-12.3 on street tires all day with a mild cam and headers. TUNE

What rpm did you launch at and what was the DA? I've noticed that when I launch at a higher rpm, my mph on top end increased as well.

Also, you knocked off a second, not half a second. If you would have gotten a 2.0 60', you could have ran a 13.3.
