I had a friend who went 13.1 with his low option 99 SS M6. Throw in the SLP SS air lid that you could get on the cars in 01/02 and the car would have went 12's no problem. Evan Smith also went 12.89 in a Z/28 M6 back in like 1999 or something. I met him recently and he said that he raced in good air but the car was broken in and he did not drive it abusively.

My 02 WS6 ran a 13.2/107 mph bone stock after a few break in miles. This was with a tire-spinning 2.2 60 ft and no full on powershifts. I think pretty much any car that can trap 107 mph or better at least has the potential to dip into the 12s with the right launch.

my stock ws6, only y pipe and lm1,no lid or anything ran a 10.89 1000' with a 2.0 60f, on cheap street tires. thats pretty close to 12's i think in the 1/4...so i could say if the conditions were right that it could do it...

With all the mods in my sig, I could only manage a 13.7. There has to be something completely different with the stock ls1's doing high 12s on crappy tires. There was also a somewhat stock LT1 racing with me and he could manage a high 14. Maybe the track just sucked that bad but no idea what to do. Tires are lowered to like 20some PSI and I launch at bout 2k with slipping clutch.

12.94 @110.xx on a 2.07 60' here, bone stock, down to the paper filter and Eagle F1's that come on the SS's. The car had 7k miles on it, and this was done at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, KY in Nov. of 00'. In the late fall and early spring, BB has great track prep, and great air. People just have to be willing to abuse these cars if they want good times out of them when they're stock. I was launching at 5500 rpm's on the stock clutch, and doing a quick slip, with minimal tire spin, just to keep the rpm's up, and not letting the car bog, which M6 LS1's are notorious for.
To give you an idea how much weather and miles affect new LS1's, when the car was brand new, and only had ~200 miles on it, it went 13.72 @103 w/2.1x 60'. That was in Sept. of 00'. Next month, with ~2500 miles on it, and the temp about 15-20* cooler, the car went 13.24 @107 on a 2.07 60'. Then the next month, I ran the times above when the weather was about 15-20* cooler than the 13.2 run.
Later on, with nothing more than a Direct-Flo lid, filter, RAM clutch, cutout, free mods, shift light, and 17" Nittos, I went 12.66 @112 on a spinning 2.00 60'.

blackSSripper, I went again and ran 14.06 at 102mph with a 2.2 60'. Pretty much 2 seconds off of 'where it should be'. The weather was absolutely terrible today. 90s with close to 100% humidity. It shouldn't be a whole lot worse aside from getting rained out. I am beginning to believe that the "stock" cars running high 12s are living WAY below sealevel in lab-like conditions or just making it up.
The first time I raced, I raced a stock SS and did terrible but still ended up being a full sec faster.

Do you know what DA is? It's Density Altitude, and the higher it gets, the worse your times and mph will get due to the air being so bad. What's the elevation at the track you race at? Mine is right at 500' above sea level. And in the early spring and late fall, our DA's will fall below 0, giving us negative DA, and the killer times and mph's.
don't doubt other people's time just because yours suck. It may not be your car, it may not be you, but weather always has a role in it. Alot of it is your driving though, and judging by your mph's, either you're not driving it like you should, or the elevation where you live is extremely high. Hell, my TBSS is faster than your car at this point!

Blazen T/A (brandon) went 12.8 @ 108 against me at Epping NH last year in a stock 02 SS M6. In an auto no, but M6 very possible with the right driver. I went 13.00 @ 108 stock with mine, on cheap *** Sears tires, full weight with a friend in the car.

UnbelievabLS1, I understand the higher DA thing. The elevation of the track is slightly higher then 3000'. I am very sure that if the weather would have been more favorable, the car would have shot to the low 13s easily. I would love to go to a track around sea level when temps are around 50-60. I just don't understand the mph thing though, 102.9mph and a 13.7 ET (my best) don't seem like they match. Especially with your 13.00 @108 stock time. Could going from a 90degree day with water dripping off you like a waterfall to a 60deg perfect day really change your time by a second or more? Even the single digit drag cars were only running 8s, so I am gonna blame the weather on not getting a low 13.
I have been told that I shift a little slow by the sound of my exhaust but by my EFILive logs, I shift between gears in about .3sec or less. My 60' foots have been best of 2.20 on street tires. Gforce Sports (I think) at about 21psi.
One last edit, I got the DA, it was 6500 the afternoon I was racing.
