12's finally
I have my timeslip posted here:
http://www.myspace.com/alanledesma
It's under car pics.
My Mustang:
1996 Mustang GT, 4.6L 281cid 2V, Automatic, 3660 lbs with me in it.
Bone stock 16.2@88MPH, 3.08 gears.
'00 4.6 PI Headswap
Full exhaust minus manifolds
3.73's
Handheld computer tune
Comp 262 cams
14.2@95
Estimated cost of MOD's: $2000.00
Camaro:
2000 Z28, A4, 2.73's, 5.7L 346cid, 3620 lbs with me in it.
Stock cept for exhaust cutout lid 13.8@102
'02 T/A Motor
SLP Lid
Gutted Cats
HP Tuners custom tune
Estimated cost of MOD's: $460.00 - this one's kinda tricky, as the T/A motor cost $3000.00, but I was running 13.4's with the stock motor I only wanted the T/A motor because of the better rod bolts, better intake and better casting 241 heads. Although on the other hand it probably wouldn't have made 12's with the stock motor because of the ls1 intake.
12.97@108.5
The Camaro hands down was wayyyy faster from the start. I owned both of the cars for about a month before I sold the Mustang, and racing them against each other was like 5-8 carlengths diff. The Camaro pulled hard on the stang up top.
I have caught a lot of hell both on stangnet and here about the Mustang being slow for what it had done. I had raced a lot of PI Mustangs from around here, and beat them, stick or auto. So it didn't quite make sense, i knew the car ran good. Then most realized that my usual D/A at our track is around 3500FT, so the times made more sense.
The LS1 is just an animal, period. If I could do it all over again, i'd start with the LS1.
The funny thing is I work at a Ford Dealership, so you can imagine how much i get poked at! It's all good tho, I own a Ford pickup and woudn't trade that for anything.
