Default 12.3 possible?

Well, I have a new goal for my '98 Z28. Last month I ran a 13.45 with nothing but a Flowmaster cat back and no cats.

A good friend of mine has slowly been building his Gand Prix GTP up over the past couple of years, and just ran a 12.311 a week or so ago at the strip.

It's embarrassing getting killed by a GTP, and I want to run faster. However, I want to have a reliable DD as well. I have set a current goal for this summer, and that is to turn my car into a 12.3 second car, with only basic bolt-ons. Is this possible? My budget is about $3,000, and I am currently hoping to obtain the following:

LS6 intake manifold
SLP lid
85 or 90mm TB
Pacesetter headers
True duals (any brand suggestion?)
3.73 gears
ASP underdrive pulley
Electric water pump w/ 160* thermostat (already have, not yet installed)

And I need new struts anyways, so Koni's are on their way.

Anyone think I will be able to run a 12.3? I'm hoping to be putting down about 350 horse or so.

If your a Auto you NEED A STALL to get any kind of a good et. I think with the converter/ full bolt ons and a drag radial 12.3 is VERY possible. IF your a 6speed I doubt it will happen since the first time you really launch the car say goodbye to your 10bolt

BTW you dont need a TB. Just get yours ported and polished and the 3.73s will help

Yeah, it's a 4L60E (so 2.73 gears as of right now).

With a big enough stall it's more than possible. However, if I were you I'd probably sell that electric water pump and get yourself started on a dry nitrous setup to be perfectly honest. With what you could get out of it you could get yourself well on your way with around a 100 shot (or DR's which you'll need with that stall). Either of these with the stall should get you close to where you want to be if not a little better. Launching will just be a little tough without a sticky tire. The only time I would ever go all out and put an electric water pump on my car is if it was an all out drag car to keep the car cool in the lanes and gain maybe a FEW horses. I don't really think it's worth its cost on the street.

Yank SS4000 stall, Pacesetter Lts , Drag Radials, free mods and about 200 pounds of weight savings will net you about 12 flat

Put a converter up near the top of your list. Do that before gears...you won't regret it.

You don't need an electric water pump at this stage in the game. Get a full exhaust on there, 3.73s, a NICE stall converter, along with the other things you mentioned. I wouldn't even bother with shocks and springs. Maybe some LCA's and a torque arm. Get a dyno tune and take it to the track and see where you stand. If you fall a little short you can pull a little weight off the car. Don't forget good drag radials for the track.

Well, here's what I ran with 2.73 gears.
With pacesetter LT's, ory pipe, magnaflow cb, 3000 stall converter with nitto drag radials, slp lid and an slp underdrive pulley, I ran a 12.64 with a 108.7 mph trap. Had a 1.77 60' time on that one.
Armed my nitrous system, [75 shot] and ran a 12.01 at 115 mph.
Hope this helps.

I didnt see the electric water pump but yeah id ditch that for now and keep the money. You could run a small dry shot and you will get good gains but with full bolt ons and a stall you will easily have a low to mid 12 sec car. If you get a big stall you better put a gear out back to really take advantage of a good hard launch.

Moved. Not GenLsX related, rather Drag Racing.

Good luck!

I wouldnt wanto have to rely on spray even though it is the cheapest. A converter will do you wonders, drag tires, gears, exaust, the intake would be good i suppose. But im a big fan of doin a cam (i know its not bolton). I have basically that stuff with some weight redux and went a 11.50 @ almost 119 mph. That was with no UD pulley and stock LS1 intake.

I ran my best of 12.2 @ 110 w/ just bolt ons, Yank stall/ 3.42 and MT ET streets. If I would have taken any weight reduction with front sway bar delete, 11.9-12 flat would have been attainable.

I have longtubes w/ TSP true duals, 3.73's and a 4k stall as far as mods go. Less that 1k dollars spent and untuned went 12.30 @ 108 1.71 60' on DR's. Its possible in your budget but you will have to rethink what mods your getting. Good luck!

No problem

Pacesetter LT's and TSP true duals from a message board Norcal-Ls1.com 300.00

4k Stall from LS1Tech classified's 300.00

Gears and master install kit from a vendor through my work Randy's Ring and Pinion 287.xx

Installed them at my work 0.00

Total of 887.xx, I didn't just buy the parts I waited till I got a good deal on everything. Just like I am waiting for the right deal on my cam now. Already got a set of springs/locks/retainers from Norcal just looking for the right deal on a cam.
