is this possible? When i picked up my LS1 several weeks ago and the guy said that it ran a 12.8 on drag radials.. i mean it seems logical but for whats already done to the car.. i dont know it seems to good to be true. and on a side note ive ran a couple cars and have beat them by car lengths.. so im not sure. Mods listed below btw.
Bone stock few have done 12.8 ~12.9... (not the norm, just stating potentials)...adding the few mods and DRs I would say 12.8 is spot on... I would think with DRs my car (unmodded) would see about the same.
i think it will do about 13.4 stock. it is a 99 so it does not have the ls6 intake from factory. now with the few parts you do have i think a 13.1 is possible, but a 12.8 in a 99 seems a little steep. Maybe if it was like 40 degrees out side
in stock trim, model year means jack **** with these cars. i believe the quickest/fastest stock fbod to date is a 99 z28. i've noticed the 99 cars being faster than others around here stock for stock. i've got a 99 m6 ta with a lid that ran door to door with my 00 bolt-on z28 that trapped 110. ta went to the track and trapped 109 at full weight + some. i think 99 is the magic year.

....and on a side note the last night i was driving and one of my spark plugs was loose and it flew out and ricocheted off of the strut tower... the noise it made almost made me sh*t myself.

to answer your question, yes, assuming you can drive, the car will go 12s on a dr. i know the ta i have trapped for 12s, but the street tires it is on didn't like the 1-2 and 2-3 shifting. nothing worse than cutting a 1.96 60', trapping 109, and still going 13.4 because shifting 2nd and 3rd gear like it should be done walked the car sideways down the track. oh well. there is always next time.
