Default a little deeper, a little broken

well I went to the local track on saturday with my datsun powered LS1.
got to try out my new MT ET street radials for the first time.
it was a learning curve to say the least, spin them, then bog next run.
I got a new PB at 12.66 @109 with a 1.89 on basically cold tires.
i heated them up a bit more and dropped at 4k and bang.
My halfshaft let go and scared the crap out of me.

I think its got some low 12's in it as it sits if it can stick. Maybe next time

Man I hope those are old hp numbers? It should be closer to 350rwhp with just full boltons through the 6spd.. and a cam should put you closer to 400.

Sounds like a fun car though! How about pictures of the whole thing?

Like I said, you should be closer to 400rwhp.. and if that's the case.. I see easy 11s if you can stick it!

those are from earlier this year. but an O2 wasn't working and we had some issues.
I think the car has low 12's in it if I can hook and not break something.
Here's the shiny side of the car

I dont know what the race weight is, I would assume lighter then a Fbody. Those M/T stand the best chance of any DR to hook. But now you have some stick, your going to find all sorts of weak links.

as for HP at the rear, unless that IRS is really sapping the power, you should be making over 350 easy, with out issue.

Have the tune checked.

Ya we know the tune is out to lunch as its basically stock. Its taken us a while to just get the car up and running in the Z. Race weight with full interior/stereo and me is still a hair under 3000lbs. When we get it to hook its going to be scary.

That car with tune and a good 60 foot has deep 11's written all over it. Thats a killer race wight.

As for driveability a good tuner will take out all that emissions crap, the rear o2's will mean nothing so you wont get those issues. I dont know if Canada has emssions laws that you have to pass but basically there is ALOT left to go!

The car isn't running cats/rear O2s, EGR none of it. I don't have to etest the car because its pre-'86.
I can't wait for it all to come together. Just doesn't look like this season as I can't source driveline parts fast enough to get it on the road for the end of my race season.

To each his own, but I'd have worried about the tune being spot on before I beat on the car. It'd be pretty shitty to pop a motor you just stuck in the car. It is a sick ride though.

we have scanned the car and its 'safe' just not perfect by any means. Everything is within ok perameters, there's just lots of room to get better.
The car will be tuned before the next race season for sure.
