Unhappy Ran High 12s tonight.

I really thought I could hit Mid 12s with my mods. I'm on street tires but I lowered the air and it felt like I didn't spin much at all. When I took off my RPMs went up steady which I took at no spin. BTW this is my First time to the track and only did 6 passes.

Here is my best run of the night.
R/T.....736
60'......2.046
330.....5.570
1/8.....8.420
MPH....86.95
1000...10.868
1/4.....12.915
MPH....110.31

Everything else was in between 12.9 and 13.2.
Is this about right? What is there to improve? Thanks.

Edit: This is all Full weight with spare tire and jack. Also left my house with a full tank of gas and returned home with a little less than 3/4s

I think you could have ran a bit faster but it was your first time at the track. My friend ran a best of 12.7@113 with M6 same mods as you but with bald DR's and FAST92/92.

I know. When I take off sometimes it will bogg and not go for a second. It may be because I stomp on it right away instead of leaning into it?

If it bogs then your either getting off the clutch too fast or not giving enough gas. I would guess the first one. Without getting drag radials I'd say hang it up, 'cause your done.

Very nice for your first time out. I'd say it is a little of both - coming off the clutch without enough gas. If you bog out of the hole, leave a little harder next time (more rpm's on launch). Practice - practice

Oh by the way you can get your "official" 12 Second Club title by following the sticky at the top of page

Congrats on the times

Are you tuned? I have the same basic mods except a pulley too but A4 and no gears. I haven't been back yet because I need a tune since the LT's but think it should trap near the 110 mark. You had good MPH! With the 4.10's you need tires and launch hard or you would have been better with less gear. In my old Stang I went 13.7 with 3.08's and didn't best it with 3.73's until I started launching higher and it went 13.2.

If you want mid 12's just just invest in some slicks, launch at 3,500 and cross your fingers that your rear end is a pooper.

You'll be cuttin 1.7's all day

Definatly next time you plan on going think ahead and not fill your tank take out the spare, and all the little pieces(which wont do much). Dont do a huge burnout with street tires cause they will just get greasy.

The way i did it with street tires is i spun em till i started to see any smoke at all then i let out pulled forward and gave it a littel goose to see if they would catch/clean them off.

That will definatly help but like they said keep the RPM's up a little more and see what happens, what RPM's were you launching at by the way?

Either way bud good run definatly.

It's your tires holding you back for sure, although for your first time out you did very well! Some drag radials and a more aggressive launch should take a couple tenths off, though. With that mph in an M6, you should be able to hit a 12.7 at least if you can launch it well and nail your shifts, assuming you're at an average track or better. What was the DA and what track are you racing at?

Keep practicing and invest in some decent drag radials when you get a chance (although keep the stock 10-bolt in mind). Even with Nittos you'll probably knock your 60' down to a 1.8 at least and that's your two tenths right there, possibly three with what you'll pickup top end.

I don't do a big burnout. I jump the RPMs up and spin to the line. There's no smoke. I race at Gateway in St. Louis. IDK what the DA is tho. I'm sure I can hit a 12.8 with street tires. I won't be getting DRs until next year. So I guess I just need to work on my 60.

Dont even worry about the 60 foot, you dont even have a REAL tire on the car a street tire on a M6 is pointless. Especially when you put more power too it. Even a DR is not going to leave right, it will be a spin/bog light switch. Get a set of rims and a bias ply and leave like a hero.

Like ^^ he said, your car is going to be like a light switch. You're either going to spin a lot, or bog it. Pretty difficult to find just the right launch on a street tire.

He said it was that way with drag radials. Which isn't entirely true. It may not be as easy as a slick but, with practice, good 60s can be accomplished with little spin or bogging.

Yeah I understand, but with a DR it will not be near as hard.

Street tire'd M6 are pointless stock, let alone with some mods.
