Wondering which would be better... I have been chasing this "perfect square" dream for a while. But I'm planning an LS9 clone in the next couple years. Either an L99 block or a 4" stroker on a 6L block.
Not sure how a 4" stroke will handle a blower though, so I figured I'd ask..
I could drop the compression to around 9.5 or so.. Whatever you guys think would be better. But a 408 wouldn't exactly be an LS9 "Clone" then would it..
I may just do the L99 block with the stock stroke, drop the c/r and forge the bottom end. I'm planning on the LS9 blower itself too.

A couple of obervations:
Stroked motors make torque at lower rpm levels than an over-square motor of the same displacement (all else equal).
Blown motors (such as street LSs) are usually low-rpm torque intensive.
So I wonder if stroking a motor and adding a blower is redundant with regard to building low end torque and perhaps deficient in terms of creating outright horsepower(which is a function of rpm as well as torque).

^ Hmmm... You make a good point.. The 376 would prolly rev higher with more useable power up there rather than have all the twist come in down low. I'm just growing tired of my old LS1 block and the new tech has me wanting so much more.

Didn't see mention for what kind of blower, however i'd recommend our 390ci shortblock for your typical 1200cfm Centrifugal blowers (D1SC, S Trim, T Trim, Novi 2000) any TVS blowers etc.
Another good feature to our 390 is full length keyway, stronger then pinning the factory crankshaft.
some more info about it here.
