His change is definitely from the Y and merge change in itself.. No LTs will make that big of change

I've seen a couple graphs in the dyno section showing small gains from 1 3/4" to 1 7/8"

Not much reason to buy 1 3/4 unless you are getting killer deals. Losing power with the larger headers is another internet myth.

All true...even with my stock crap 98 heads and 98 cam I made 335/341 through TSP 1 7/8
and a stalled auto. Now getting milled 243's and G5X3 where the big headers will really shine! The coating on my TSP's looks great still too!

Guys this H/C car with 11.4:1 compression as OP stated ..

You cannot see these gains with stock ls1 engine ! .. alot parameters play here ( cam spec, heads , intake ... )

Tsp did a engine dyno test with the pacesetters vs tsp 17/8. And had a 11hp gain and 9 tq with no loss down low or mid . Engine was a stock ls1 with 241 heads and ls6 intake.

Do you know if they already had their new designed oryp on before the header switch? In my mind, that would tell the true story of what kind of hp will be seen on even the mildest setup and not just a h/c car that alot of us will never do. No doubt, If you were far from stock the larger tubes would be worth it but, just saying...

Yep! Completely stock engine, and they still gained power! Anybody who preaches otherwise on the internet either hasn't tested it, or is just regurgitating something they read in another thread.

I think that's a great piece of information to pass along. Take the things you read on here with a grain of salt. Do some research on your resources. You'll find out who you'll want to listen to in the long run.

The 1 7/8 will pick up power, but it's not going to pick up 28rwhp over a 1 3/4 header on a heads/cam car. I've been swapping 1 7/8's headers on cars for YEARS that had a 1 3/4 header, the gain was never that big .

Gotta love the internet.

Well that is just false based on the link below -- it was with a FAST intake, and lost a little power (6.1 TQ) at 3000 RPM, and only gained above 4800 RPM. Unless you're talking about some OTHER test...

As I read it the horsepower was the same at 3,000 rpm, while torque was down by 6 at 3,000 rpm.

1 3/4's are fine for a bolt-on car, i would love to see some under the curve numbers on the dyno-runs, there are times you can make kickass peak numbers but it does not kick in till way high into the rpm power band, i think you still need to make choices for parts based on your set-up goal for the car, for a h/c car tho i would think 1 7/8 would be the way to go but 1 3/4 should be plenty for a bolt on car unless you just want shiny high-end numbers
