Default Pulling an ls-1 from a 98-02 f-body?

Talking to some friends, I have been told one cannot pull the engine through the hood, but rather it can only be dropped out from underneath.... is this true? We used to change engines in my 84' through the hood, and could pull one and stab another within 4-6 hours. Have any of your successfully pulled the engine from above, by perhaps removing the radiator and such and sliding it forward then up?

you can pull it from the top if you remove hood and all accessories. it is easier to pull it from the bottom by dropping k member etc though, but can be done from the top

It can be done either way.

If you have a lift, you will want to take it from the bottom, as its easier (faster).

No need to remove the hood but yess all the accessories will have to be removed. I thought it came out pretty easy from the top myself.

Mine came out pretty easy from the top. Took the hood off just to be safe.

Get some goo gone for, it'll take that stuff right off.

I took the side moldings and badges off mine too.
