Default Writeup for Polishing Taillight Center Piece

This is for the Firebird Family of cars. I did it today and decided to make a quick writeup for it. I originally wrote it for FullThrottlev6, as you'll notice in the disclaimer. Hope it helps anyone wondering about doing this!!!

Looks good. I have some minor scratches/swirl marks that are bugging me. I've been wanting to get rid of them. I do have a porter cable buffer so do you think that I could just use the Plastx to fix her up? How about waxing the lights afterwards?

Nice write up, ...
Got a typo tho.
"Once it drives up", don't you mean, "Once it dries up"?
Well anyway, guess I'll stop buying all these things & resellin' the polished ones now!

Yah, I do have to go through and fix them typos. I just noticed a few myself!!

As for the porter cable, I don't see why it wouldnt work. I don't think that the PlastiX can do any harm. As far as the lights, I didn't sand mine down at all. I threw the stuff on and it worked awesomely.

Great write up, I take it you guys dont like your firebird on the back? I love mine!

I actually recently polished my taillights, they went from dull (no shine at all, honestly) to mirror like. I am blessed with a buffer, and actually just helped my best friend polish his IROC taillights.

How funny. I did this for mine today. I only used 1500 and then switched to Meguire's fine cut. Looks great.

That write-up rocks. I've got a black t/a so I'm gonna pop on a silver bird as the plain black looks empty.

This was my first attempt at wet sanding, and I've always heard to start low and work up. I wasn't sure how it would all turn out. Plus, I dont know if the 1500 alone would have gotten rid of all my lines and scratches. Thanks for the heads up for future modders though. Thanks for the awesome comments too!!

i know im bringing this back from the dead, but...

i did it and it looks great!! sorry, but i have no way to post up pics right now, ill maybe throw some up later.

as far as getting the red off, mine wasnt faded at all, but i had really good results using the softer side of an old sponge soaked in the alcohol. it seemed to work better than paper towels, and didnt scratch the panel at all...

my $.02...
