Lightbulb Who Knows Ls1 Camaros Swapping a 98 for 2000

Hi I posted here because i need someone who knows ls1's. I have two camaros; ls1 cars, both running ones a theft recovery with a perfect motor and trans 2000 z28 m6 good running car. my 98 ss has an a4 with a 5.7 the 5.7 is no longer good running and i dont want the a4 anymore so i thought buying this 2000 z28 with a 6spd would be perfect to use the good running ls1 and m6 to swap how do i go about swapping these two? im gonna sell the body of the 2000 z28 after but what computer do i use, what wiring harness do i use, and is their anything different on the 2000 z28 motor than my 1998? whats the best way to approach this? both cars on hand and complete, all info greatly appreciated!

your best bet here is to just find one that already had the LS1 and M6 unless you really like doing alot of work

I'd take every bit of wiring out of the 00 and put it in the 98, swap over to a 00 gas tank as well when your doing the swap. I'd make the car whatever ABS system is in the 00 car.

The easiest way to do this woudl be 2 lifts, and drop the whole cradle out the bottom of both cars, and swap over the parts needed.

If I decide to leave my built a4 in the car and drop out the 2000 ls1 and put it in my car what do I do about the computer/wiring harness cani plug the 2000 wiring harness into my 1998 computer and get it tuned or can I just put the 2000 computer in with no issues

slows got it and i understand the sentimental thing, everything is going to have to be swapped everything excluding the obvious stuff, seats, panels, etc just use the 2000 computer less issues

yes your 98 and 2000 computers are interchangable. I just did this same swap. Put a 99ss motor in a 2001 Z28. Both were 6 speeds though. I had a computer tuned for my truck that has a 460LE "AUTO" behind a LS1. I am going to be swapping the computers soon in the truck and the camaro just to see what it does. The truck comp has a power tune on it but not sure what it will do being set up for a auto tranny. the 2000 manifolds may be different. mine were but it was a 2001 which i belive they did not change till 01 though. check it out. You can just use the 98 computer with the 98 harness on the 2000 motor to keep the auto tranny. you have to do this cause the two harnesses are different since they are for a auto and a 6 speed. everything on the 98 harness will plug up on the 2000 motor. think of it this way the harness stays with the tranny. other than that its just a straight forward swap.

pm me when you sell the body! i may get it or some parts off it. mainly interior
Also: where are you located? I will do the swap for $1000.00 have you roll out with the auto tranny ready to run. I could probably knock it out in about a day or 2. I have had about 4 of these cars pulled all the way down and put back together in my garage. let me know
