Default any fellow techs on here today?

i know this isn't an ls1 but i'm not a member of any ford forums. i'm working on a 2006 ford taurus. ITS DRIVING ME NUTS! It had a bad mass airflow reading, i found several holes in the intake plenum. i replaced the intake plenum and it still has a low reading on the mass airflow sensor. the car is running really rough as well. i've cleared the computer, used some gum cutter all over every vacuum line all around the intake, EVERYWHERE. tried replacing the mass airflow sensor, same problem. Took a known good one off of another taurus and tried swapping it out, still the same problem. Has anyone run across this before? for the sake of my sanity i hope someone has lol. i'm sure its probably something obvious but any help would be appreciated

Is the car throwing any code, if so what are they. THey help out the most.

Have you probed with the right connectors to see if you are getting a constant 12v or a constant 5v every system is different. If you do see if you ground is good. Do a OHMs check on the ground wire, then if that is good see if the referance wire is good with and getting a siganl you can probe the signal to the grond on the same contector and see if you are getting a good signal. I would start there and get back with what you find.

no codes since i replaced the intake. all of the wiring is good and checked the ground and signal and reference and everything checks out good. when you reset the computer the maf starts out reading correctly and then you can watch it slowly drop and then it stays down.

It would be nice if we knew what engine you have! OHV or DOHC? And if OHV, is it flex fuel?

What do you mean several holes in the intake plenum!?

I'm a Ford senior tech BTW...

Will unplugging the MAF send the computer into speed density mode? You might want to try that.
