Default Engine block strength....

Anyone know-FOR SURE-if there is any difference in strength between the L92 block and the LS3 block? I think I read somewhere that when the ZR1 C6 came out, the LS9 engine was built around an LS3 block because, with the exception of the C5R block, it is the strongest aluminum block G.M. makes, including the LS7 block. The strength comparison to the LS7 appears to make sense, because it would seem that G.M. could get the same 600H.P.+ output from the LS7 with its 427 cubes with far less boost. Thanks.

if those ratings were true there would be a lot of blown up cars around here. Funny how conservative gm is with those ratings...

As I understand it GM didn't SC the LS7 because the liners are too thin to reliably hold boost. I have heard of a few cases of cracked LS7 liners but never seen one.

I think you will have different real-world fail points
depending on whether you make your HP by torque
/ cylinder pressure (boost, stroke, CR) or by RPM.
Lifting heads vs breaking rods, etc.
