Default Head Gasket Choices?

I am doing a head and cam swap, and would like to know what you guys have found out about different head gaskets. To start, we are working with a stock bore and stroke 346 (LS1) with AFR 205's milled to 62 cc's. First up we have stock MLS .051 GV ?. Next is Fel-Pro 1041 .041 x 4.135 9.cc G.V. (Built in pre flattend SS o-ring), Next we have Cometic C5475-040 .040 x 3.910 7.87 cc G.V. I will be using 91 octane pump gas, clearly I would like my cake and eat it to...lol what is the max C.R. I can use with a tight quench and 91 octane?

I would go with the Cometic .040 gasket as long as you don't have piston to valve issues.
The tighter quench will help reduce the on set of detonation and make more TQ.

I like the route you're taking, a bump in compression by milling and improving quench to run more timing, but I'm not positive the Fel-Pro 1041 is ideal for the 346, as the gasket indicates it's for a 4.135 bore (LS1 is a 3.91).

Am I incorrect? Can this be run on the stock LS1 bore?

engine internal section might be more appropriate.

How do I move it? Or do I need to start a new thread?

That is a good question. Fel-Pro 1041 is the correct part number for the 346, I need to check with Cometic to see what the I.D. of there gasket is. I am told that the stock MLS is 3.940 x .051. I dont think the Cometic is the same size as the bore, if is was the ID of the gasket would be .225 larger than the bore leaving .1125 on each side of the bore.
