Priming new GM crate 376/525hp HELP !!!!!
New to the site. Just installed my new GM crate and having some concerns with priming the oil pump. So far here's what I've done. I removed all the plugs and disabled the fuel pump/coil packs. I turned it over 4-5 times at 10-15 seconds each time and still not reading pressure on mechanical oil gauge and no oil coming up to rockers. How long should this take and should I be concerned ? I've been told to just fire it up and the pressure will come up.....any advice would be appreciated.

The best way that I found to work for oil pressure was to use a pressurized gallon lawn sprayer filled with oil and pressurize by adding a ball valve to the line that dispenses fluids along with a fitting that will hookup to the internal oil system externally via one of the external threaded ports. ie. oil gauge sender etc. Then externally connect the sprayer line to oil system through the external port and pressurize the engine until you have a pressure reading to the oil gauge and oil flowing from the rocker arms. Using this method insures that oil pressure occurs at startup and no engine wear or failures occur because of lack of oil pressure.
PS Walmart sells one gallon sprayer around $10.00 that perform perfectly for this application.
