HEELLPP please 600hp ls3 does 12.7 et
Hello everyone I have spent countless days hours and money on my 2000 camaro build. I took it to the tack yesterday and it ran a best of 12.7..1/4 and 2.082 60 ft. That was also on drag radials no traction problems at all...
.....MOTOR...6.2 iron block cnc ls3 heads 236/250 .625 .625 stock ls3 intake manifold with 42 lbs. Injectors all forged rods pistons etc. 92mm NW tb dual 255 fuel pump for when I run nitrous after the car get dialed in.
......TRANSMISION...4l80e with all the goods built to handle 1000+ hp(3600 stall might be the problem it was built for 900 to 1000hp
......REAR END...built 8.8 with all the goods true loc or true trac diff...what ever the better of the 2
....mail tuned by frost
.....EXHUAST...stock ls3 intake manifold and 3" Y pipe to magnaflow cat back with 2 california catylitic converters..just because I need it to pass visual inspection because I live in tree hugger state..
...it's kind of heart breaking all the time and money spent this car is only running upper 12's ....I don't know what else to do it's a 600hp na engine that I plan on putting a 200 to 300 shot of n20 on....could it be my torque converter shaving that much time off since it was built for higher hp and nitrous or the exhuast restricting that much torque and hp..the engine itself seems to be running great I also forgot to mention 3.73 gears on mt 15" 10.5 drag radials and upgraded suspension so traction is definitely ruled out...and the wide band numbers look good

I had the long block built for for me by thompson motorsports and they guaranteed it was a 600 hp na motor at that crank and doing countless research on the many different combo builds other guys are running it should be at least close to 600 hp give or take. even if it were 500hp at the crank like I have seen other guys running it should be at least a little quicker than its running now. The car wieghed in at 3400lbs..there was anot her camaro at the track this weekend that ran 11.8 with a 5.7 with bolt ons on smaller cam auto trans

113 MPH is definitely not 600HP. It's around 425HP at 3700 lbs. I would do a couple of things:
1. Do a leakdown test. Record the results. Rectify any discrepancies. This will verify that there are no obvious mechanical deficiencies with the engine such as leaking or bent valves, poorly seated rings, etc.
2. Get the car on a dyno and verify the tune is good. You didn't really mention anything about how the engine was tuned.
Also you didn't call it out specifically, but are you using stock exhaust manifolds? Your post was a little ambiguous. 600HP on stock displacement with a nitrous spec cam and exhaust manifolds through cats is a long, tough road to hoe. That's around 1.6 HP per cubic inch. If you are concerned about emissions testing, you are running on the street. If you are running the car on the street with pump gas it is highly unlikely you have enough compression ratio built in to the engine to make that number happen, given the other aspects of the combination.

It sounds like there are likely multiple things going on here. You have a great list of parts but putting good parts together that don't like each other can be a bit disappointing. These things can take a little time to work out to ensure you have everything doing as it should. Don't get disappointed too quickly. You have the car making passes, Now you just need to tweak it. With the motor combo you have at the weight you are at set up and operating optimal you have a good second and a half in the build. Give me a call so we can go over the car front to back and start fine tuning your combo to make it work. I look forward to hearing from you.

I know I need to put it on the a dyno tune ...I just wanted to make sure everything was mechanically sound before I paid 500$ for that...which I did have to work out a few issues..like a few ses lights ...I just finished the car last month and have maybe 50 miles on it...so I do have a few other things I need to redo now like the exhuast system for starters...after I get that done I will be putting it on the dyno tune and probably most definitely going to be getting a different torque converter since I just found out the one that's in there now is for a 1500 1800 hp engine

I figured I would loose some hp with that shitty exhuast set up I just didn't realize that much..FN california can't wait till I get arizona plates I'll be driving around with 2 nitrous tanks strapped to my roof...I'm putting on the headers by next week just ordered them today

Exhaust and tune are killing it, probably have knock sensors still working removing all your timing. Cat over temp making it a rich pig.. lsX need to be old school in how they're tuned, to go fast

That's what I have been told I think after I address the issues with my exhuast and tune and a couple minor changes I should be right around 500rwhp ...because when I'm rolling at say 30 to 40 mph and then floor it the trans and torque converter feels like it's doing its thing....thank you for the info

Your absolutely right I was looking at my timing a little closer last night and it's pulling 4 degrees of of timing from somewhere and the cats are getting extremely hot..it actually dumps a bunch of condinsation out of the muffler on start up also. Even if it's hot outside...I have been learning hptuners for the past month but still not confident enough to play around with all the tables yet ..I talked to my engine builder and he said I'm loosing 60 to 100 hp. Just from my exhuast alone..I'm going to address that first with headers and duals and run a cut out for the track...then I'm going to take it to a well reputable tuner in my area...I was going to buy another torque converter but I'll see how it does after I get everything else's squared away

He said in the first post he has a 3.73 rear gear.

If its stalled for a 900-1000 HP Nitrous setup, then I doubt it is your problem.
Saying that it 'looks' like an 1800 HP converter means nothing. You can buy a 3000 HP bolt-together from Chance and as long as its stalled properly, it will be just as good or better than any other converter.
