Bare block build for 2nd gen swap

Bare block build for 2nd gen swap I may have access to an iron 5.3 that could use a rebuild, or I could buy a bare 6.0 block to start a build. In the opinion of the experts, which would be more cost effective for a 5-600 hp build if I'm starting with just a block?
Build will be efi and I'm undecided on if I want to boost it yet.

That was about what I had assumed. I suppose I need to weigh my options as far as what will help me reach my goals better. I'd like to make 500/500 at the wheels reliably and comfortably because I plan on driving the car a lot.
