Default Oil Pump "G" Rotor Life

Hi All, there has been much "tech" about LS Oil Pumps.

I assemble LS engines with a REQUIRED life of 25K hours, continuous operation.

The "G" rotor pump MUST never show wear and when found pump output becomes VERY poor.
I have found this wear in high hour LS engines.

My cure is to DLC the pump rotors.
My cure is to ADD filter magnets.

Comments ?

Default Diamond Like Coating

Hi G, this is a Black Diamond coating.

This coating is used on engine Valves, Lifters, etc.

DLC stands for "Diamond Like Coating" I believe.

Default Oil Filter Magnets = Oil Pump Life

Hi Gary, the use of an Oil Filter Magnet will increase Oil Pump life.

This would be good "tech" for the Advanced Section, comments ?

I actually think it would be a good idea for filter mfrs. to include a magnet in production filters, though nowadays iron and its alloys are in the minority of currently used metals. Nonetheless a good idea though...

DLC coated sounds like a fantastic oil pump. Add a couple of magnets for good measure on the filter.

25,000 hours - that's a long time.

What sort of estimated life in miles does that work out to be? 500,000?

Default Engine Life in Hours

Hi T/A, there are many ways to "count" engine life with 25K hours as THREE years of operation 24/7.

There is the average speed of 60 MPH = 1.5M miles.

WHAT a difference when someone wants to state "my engine has 125K miles AND must be freshened".
