Default Making cores for the V12 LS7 heads

For those who are interested here are some pictures showing how we make the water jacket cores for the LS7 style V12 heads. Everything is CAD designed and most core boxes made in the traditional way for the foundry. But with the complexity of the water jacket we use 3D printing to create the perfect water jacket core.

Default V-12 Block "V" angle

Hi Matt, GOOD work.
I created the first Viper V-10 in the same way for Metalcrafters in Costa Mesa CA.

What is your new cast block "V" angle ?

The cores are easy to handle, I "stole" my wife's Nail Files (sand) to fit/trim my cores. (Green Sand & Dry Sand)
I came home that nite and she was VERY UPSET not form the missing files but from the fact that she thought I had a girl friend that received those files !

I have a requirement for a 1800 RPM 25K hour engine ?

Hey Lance, not to butt in, but this engine is based upon the LS engine, actually an extended version to include four more cylinders, which makes the angle between cylinder banks ninety degrees, like the V8 it is based upon.

Yes that's right, we chose to stick with 90 degrees as while odd fire makes a poorly balanced engine worse, it has little effect on a V12 due to the perfect primary and secondary imbalance.

Sounds cool lance, and yeah sand printing has really helped speed up the development process.

Default V-12 Firing Order

Hi Matt, My requirement is an "airborne" GenSet.
So I ask the short block engine weight ?
So I ask the firing order with degrees of each cylinder ?
So I ask if 60-2 Crankshaft Target Wheel is filled ?

Yes, I agree TWO six cylinder engines balance well at any degree angle.

Hi Lance, You can find more info over at http://v12ls.com/technical-information/
Yes we use the 60-2 trigger and will publish a long block weight soon.

So what is an "airborne" GenSet.?

Just an offhand guess- A genset that is air-liftable or aircraft-borne.

Default LS Laser Power

Hi Gary, the Air Borne Laser program has been "reborn" with new Fiber Optics Lasers.

They do need power supplies, "gensets" for repeat bursts.

Who would like that to be a LS-V-12 ?

Lance
