Not surprising. GM bought an entire BMW 850I in the late 80s and transplanted its whole driveline into a Caprice to play with its drive by wire and engine management. IIRC they also transplanted its ABS, disc brakes and traction control. Read an old article about it not long ago.

I’ve been preaching on here and other platforms…as well as to clients for years about power potential with iron headed engines. You’ve all heard me say more than once, that if you build two identical engines side by side, one having iron heads and he other having aluminum heads, that the iron headed engine will make more power due to keeping more heat in the chambers. I didn’t guess at this “assumption”, as we proved he fact in the early 90’s during my tenure doing R&D work for high end teams. Well, lo and behold, the 2026 Ferrari F1 engine will have steel heads on it. Weight be damned, Ferrari has found the advantages and found a way to make the steel heads last. Your welcome.
