Valve idea
#21
I have been pondering the solenoid actuated valves for years
there are some stamping machines that use some pretty stong actuators
to release the dies
place the solenoids in a tray that doubles as lifter dummys and
just leave the camshaft in (for oil)
what a retrofit "kit" that would be
computer controlled valve events mean truly variable valve timing
48volt systems and other technology will make this more cost effective soon
I suspect without valvetrain friction, power would be made alot sooner
of course we could just switch to ethanol at the pumps
then we could really crank the boost in

Then somebody's put the same idea I had into action. Provided you could get the valve to close and open quick enough, you could program the solenoids to open for a certain time, instead of engine travel. End result, you'd have excellent drivability, unlimited tunability, and awesome low-end torque and killer top end hp.
