Default Oversized valve stems?

I have a set of GTP stage 2 heads a friend is giving me,basically rent to own on them. But the problem is they are for forced induction applications at 70 cc. I sent them to CNC Head in Pinellas Park to be angle milled but upon futher insp. when they recieved them I found out the valve guides are bad, and CNC said due to the exstinsive porting pressing in the new guides would be risky. I was talking with some local friends about this and someone said they make a oversized valve stem that wouldn't require pressing in new guides, just drilling the existing ones out to correct size. I plan on calling CNC and asking them, but I'm open to any suggestions cause I would really like to take advantage of this "deal". Thanks for any input. Mark.

Larger stems add valvetrain weight. I would look for a better set of heads.

GIZMO gave some good advice.

What would be your static compression with these heads? lower than stock?

e-Bay would be a better place for your "friend" to dispose of his heads.

Don't invest any money in this set.

Oh, yeah, listen to GIZMO.

the heads can either have new guides pressed in, or they're junk.

id have them carefully try to do it... with the understanding that the heads might be ruined, and you'll still have to pay for the guide install.

this all in all is why god created the tig welder...

you can cut the existing guides out also...What is he afraid of? Pushing the spring pocket? Also, How bad are the guides?

I don't know how to judge how bad the guides are, but there was discoloration apparently from oil on the back side of the intake valves, and when the springs were off and the valve was pulled out about 3/4" there was several .001 of play this of course is a guesstament before we sent them to CNC Head. CNC was concerned about the guides going in at the wrong angle. Easy there guys don't get carried away with that last statement I'm still pondering the oversize valve stem. I know they weigh more but seems like the ti. retainers would offset that. I'm not going to run above 6,500 with only a 150 shot. does this change anything?

They should be able to press in new guides without any problems.
Don't panic unless a problem comes up, and then still don't panic.
Like has been said before, there's nothing a TIG can't fix.
Your heads are NOT scrap.

how bad are they? if they aren't TERRIBLE, back in vocational the teacher said they had a tool you could use that would scuff them up some, actually adding meat back in (fluffing what metal is there up)

I am also really liking some of the new repair sleeves...have some in high rev race engines with crazy geometry...and no problems...this should not be a problem..If Hudgins can't get her fixed...I am sure we can figure something out if you are in a bind...
