Ok, so the main question is, can a cam be designed to work with low compression and still make good power?

Here will be my specific combo;
Compression will be about 9.5 to one.

The combo is a 402 iron block with -14cc dish , pistons out of the hole .008, AFR 225’s w/72cc chambers with either a .045 or .040 gasket. Pick one, for whatever the best quench #.

This will eventually be a moderate boost engine. But, for the NA break in period, this is what the rest of the combo will be …
Fast 90
NW TB.
ASP Pulley
EWP
42lbs injectors
QTP two piece timing cover
QTP high volume oil pump
QTP 1 7/8ths HVMC thru their 3’ Y and out thru a Magnaflow cat back.

If you get a cam with a really advanced intake lobe, you will be able to recover some of the torque loss down low by raising the DCR. I would recommend the Katech Torquer cam as this will be a good cam for the future supercharger and it will have great response because of the early IVC point.

Play around with J-Rod's quick and dirty spreadsheet. You'll want to play around with the cam timing to keep the IVC around 48-50 degrees ABDC at .050" (for a 402) and boost your DCR up to 8.5:1 (if possible). To do this, you'll most likely be running a pretty narrow LSA cam. Should be fun.
