It's a crank size that Katech sells.

I was just going to list GM cranks at first, but with so many custom shortblocks being built, I thought it would be helpful to have a more complete list.

Not stickied in here, but the Internal Section and the LS2-LS7 area would be a good fit.

How about 470.1 CI?
If that new cast iron block GM is working on becomes a reality, it will almost certainly be capable of a 4.200 bore (the aftermarket sbc are and they share the same bore spacing). Combine that with the 4.250 stroke crank and there you have it.

you forget that you can get an LS1 sleeved to 4.2 bore. Also I belive the C5-R block can be finished at 4.160.

Well the LS1 block can be sleeved to ANY bore(within limits), but I was just posting the most common ones. The only 4.200" bore I've seen is on SAM's 500ci LS2, which is a 4.2025" bore I think.

Why don't you just list all the possible cranks out there and the bore sizes of the blocks and TEACH someone the dam formula...

bore x bore x stroke x cylinders x .7854 = cubes

Thats easier than the one i have always used (except I would never remember the .7854 number). I have always just used the high school geometry formula:
pie(3.14) x radius(1/2 bore) x radius(1/2 bore)= area of circle
area of circle x stroke x number of cylinders = displacement (all in inches)
(i.e. 3.14*2.015*2.015*3.48*8=355)

.7854 is PI/4, so you don't have to divide the bore by 2.

Now .7854 are the four numbers going clockwise from the upper left corner of the keypad on calculators and computers, so you don't have to remember the number or use the PI key or remember PI.

My memory is so short, so I need all the help I can get. I can remember bore, stroke and number of cylinders....usually.

If you cant use the big cranks like 4.1 and over in stock blocks why list them? Or did I miss something could I have had a bigger crank put in my 6.0 iron block.

We are building a 454 with a 4.125 bore block and a 4.250 crank. Not exactly an every day build though. Custom Ti rods and other custom parts. It can be done, but it is beyond the wallet of most.
