Default Cam gurus look at my cam timing...

Does this look ok?? Should I leave it straight up or advance/retard any??

. This is for a supercharged 346 motor.

226/232 .586/.591 lift 116LSA

.............open ...................... close
INT.....3- BTDC....................49 ABDC
EX.....52 BBDC....................0 ATDC

My new motor specs are 346ci 9.0/1 compression, ported 6.0L heads, forged bottom, Paxton Novi 2000 at 14psi huge intercooler, Meth injection, Kooks 1 7/8" headers, no cats.

Thanks...

Captain Obvious says, "Did you ask the cam guru who designed that cam for you where it should be installed?"

Most cam guys specify an intake centerline for installation.

So you don't trust the guru who designed you cam? That's like getting a second opinion on brain surgery AFTER the surgery is done. What centerline DID he recommend, BTW?

FWIW, a lot more information would be needed to intelligently spec a cam. Head flow tables, supercharger flow map, pulley ratios, etc. as well as the rpm range you are using, fuel, blah, blah, blah. Without knowing this information, specifying a cam would just be a rectal extraction. There's a lot of that going on with specing cams, and it shows in the results.

If you really want my opinion (free and worth every penny!), change gurus and get a different cam. Don't look at the specs, just install it as he directs and run it. Results count.

Or, you could always take a poll.

OK I will ask the question. At what intake centerline was the cam designed to be installed at? It should be on the cam card or by word of mouth from the cam grinder. If you don't have this information how are you going to degree the cam in? You are taking a chance to install it straight up.

I wasn't suggesting you'd want me to design a cam for you. My point was that how could anyone design the cam if they didn't have the kind of info I mentioned? So for another cam designer to "see how it looked", he/she would need that data which the original designer had.

I'd go with the 116 ICL because the cam designer said to. That's one vote for straight up.

Let us know where you finally install it.

Just for the record my comment on straight up was without degreeing the cam in. If you don't degree the cam when installing it, it could be off by quite abit. I have seen as much as seven degrees and just recently four degrees on my current buildup. You just have to check everything to be sure.

I'd make sure to degree it and check P-V, but I don't see any benefit in your case to add advance to it.
