Default 2.00" Crankpin Preferred Over 2.10"???

I've started the process of having a 408 built and it is my understanding that I will be better off hp wise to go with the 2.00" crankpin in lieu of the 2.10" pin. I went with the Callies Dragonslayer crank and the Callies Compstar rods, with Weisco -8cc pistons. The engine will be NA with maybe a small shot of 100/150 at some point. Am I making the right decision???

You don't need too. There are no out of the box LS cranks that come with that for the rod journal size. The hoop strength of the rod will be increased with a smaller rod journal diamter but the crank will be weaker since the overlap lens of the main and rod journals is smaller.

Compstar's site shows a LS1 specific 2.00" 6.125" rod that is 20+ grams lighter than the equivalent 2.10". Callies to match this rod, has also started to make the Dragonslayer in the 2.00" from what I'm told. NASCAR engines are a 2.00" journal I think. If I can make another 10-15 rwhp with the smaller crank without compromising engine integrity why not?

You will not see 10-15 rwhp with a journal that is .100" smaller. The main reason for the smaller diameter is bearing speed which directly relates to friction. Friction causes heat, which is not what you want on a rod journal. Thats why NASCAR uses a honda pin, to keep the heat and OIL TEMP down @ the 9000+ rpm they turn. The oil must keep the bearing cool enough to survive the entire race. Thats also why side clearance is more, to increase oil flow across the bearing. If you see more than 2 rwhp or so I will be suprised. Street cars don't need it. Keep the added material for strength.

The Dragonslayer comes like that off the shelf in 2.000 and 2.100 both and it is a nice deal. It will help you a lil bit with the rotating inertia and the friction both. It's not a HUGE difference but its not bad at all.
