I have an '01 Z28. Has anyone been able to disable the door chime? I removed the black panel below the glove box. The chime is coming from an electical box that has quite a few wires and wiring connections going to it. Is there a certain wire you can cut, or what method has anyone used to disable that damn annoying door chime?

you only want to kill the chime when the door is open....? or you never want to hear the chime(like when you start the car?)
I'm just curious because I want to kill the chime when I start the motor! It annoy's me....
If I need to I will kill the whole chiming system

Did you look at that fuse panel. It should have a diagram where one of the fuses is for that chime. It was that way on lt1's. Haven't looked on the ls1.

I just tried to find the fuse for the door chime and couldn't find anything fitting that label in the owners manual fuse block diagram.
Has anyone disabled their door chime on an LS1? If so, how did you do it?

Here's one solution...
Just start pulling fuses! Keys in (car off) with door open so you hear the chime. Pull fuses one bye one until you don't hear it. I don't know if this would cause any harm (if it would, DON'T do it!!!) but if it won't, hell it's worth a try! I don't see how it could hurt anything with the car off. Once you do find the right fuse...just make sure it didn't diable anything else!

Jacobi, the only problem with what you are suggesting is that apparantly the door chime is not on a circuit by itself. Yes, you may be able to pull a fuse and disable the door chime, but you will also disable other stuff too.
Guys, any other suggestions?

Did GM move the chime? The chime noise is coming from under the glove box in my '01 Z28. I took the glove box out and can feel the vibration coming from the chime in the black box. All of the wire looms running to it are major looms. If I were to disconnect one of the major looms a whole bunch of stuff won't work.
Surely someone has come up with a simple door chime delete. <img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0"> <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0"> <img src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" border="0" alt="[guns]" />

It seems you will lose interior lights and lots of other stuff if you disable it. I cheated and put silicone in the speaker. <img src="gr_tounge.gif" border="0">
I really have to strain to hear it now.

The door chime is located in the Body Control Module, just below and in front of the glove box. You can remove this box, and open it up pretty easily. Inside you will see a little transducer, simply unsolder it from the board and away with the chime! Be careful not to bridge anything, or accidenty unsolder anything else. This box controls EVERYTHING pertaining to the accesorys, and even has most of your VATS circuitry in it.
The only otehr way to do it, and I DON'T recemand it. is to cut these wires on the larger connector going in. This connector is listed as C3 has 32 connections. This wires to cut are as follows
D11 (grey with black line) = Driver Door open imput
D12 (black with white line) = Passenger door imput
Becareful NOT to confuse D3 = Rear compartment release signal, with D12, as it's also black with a white line, but you just count spaces.
There may be some compications with this, like doors not automaticly unlocking or something.
Like I said before, I suggest you just unsolder the transducer, it's much easier.

I did this as outline by DCPunkSteve. It was not hard at all. You do need a solder iron and need to be careful what you heat. The biggest pain was getting the body control module out.

I took mine off. There is a little round circle thing in that black box. It's about 3/4 of an inch. Just pry it off the pc board it's mounted to. Comes off pretty easy. put the module back together plug it back in there are no side effects from this every thing eles works fine.
Then you can crank up the tunes and not be driven nuts by that awful CHIME!!!!!!
I wouldn't recomend heating that board up there really isn't any need the chime pops right off.
