I think he is talking about Fuel Rail Covers...not valve covers.

You do have to trim them. Or you could have bought a set pre-cut. And it's FRC's (Fuel rail covers) your talkin about. Not valve covers.

Do a search for FRC's or fuel rail covers and you will find the info you need. Use a dremel to trim them. Some trim a little some trim alot. Depends on how much you want to fight with them. I bought mine a few years ago trimmed, filled and custom painted. It was worth it to me.

I never trimed mine. I just cut the tape on the two fuel cables. I ran through the slot on the driver side FRC and the other under it. I have never had any problems and they all snaped down. I don't know why you would need to trim them. Here is a pic of mine before all of my engine work.
This is old pic, they are painted now to match the car and there is alot more room in the engine. The gaps are filled now by the LS6 intake.

^ yours are trimmed already. You have to trim them to fit around the throttle cable.

I should have been more specific. I never had to trim the Driver Side FRC. That is the one the OP is having trouble with.

Thats b/c most people want the fuel supply line hidden, not routed thru the top like yours.

In what I have seen, Most people order the 1997-1998 FRC's so they have 2 slits for the 2 lines (fuel and evap) I've never seen hidden fuel lines.

My bad, I was thinking with aftermarket braided fuel line cause you can tuck it under the FRC instead of running it thru the holes since it's more flexible. I'm kinda slow this morning, LOL.

I have seen a couple sets with the holes for the fuel lines deleted & smoothed out so it covered the fuel lines. But like stated, that was on cars with complete aftermarket fuel systems & braided hoses.
