Default Polished vs. Chrome wheels

I'm looking into getting some ZR1 rims and I can't decide on polished or chrome. So I would like to know if there are any advantages or disadvantages to having either?

Also if you guys with polished or chrome ZR1's could chime in with some pictures.

thanks,
Steve

I think polished looks more like a sports car rim. Chrome is more for showing off and bling blinging. I hate rap and so forth and I think the WS6 high polished rims look better than chrome ZR1s.

I asked a similar question a while back....

however I can tell you this, Polished rims will never look like Chrome rims!

From what I've gathered both are a little more work to keep clean. Polished required buffing and extra attention Chrome rims MUST be kept clean ortherwise you'll start seeing rust.... espically if you live in a dirty area like I do.

I'm looking for pics of polished SS wheels or ZR1's also.....

So TTT!!!

Had chrome ZR1's on my 96.

Chrome rims are very easy to take care of. Had them for 5 yrs and they got pretty dirty a few times. NEVER had a problem with rust. Not a spot on them when I sold the car.

Keep them clean and throw a coat of Zaino on them along with the car and they'll shine like the day you got them for yrs.

Polished...well they are a fuggin pain in the a$$ to keep them looking new and shiny compared to chrome.

Chrome weighs more sure, but minimal.

What ever you do, DON'T buy them from Performance Wheel in California. Their quality control isn't up to my standards thats for sure. My wheels weren't exactly true.

Was planning on some FM5's but since I bought the car I've really gotten into going to the track so the FM5's are out and some drag wheels are in. Kicking myself in the *** for not getting the chrome ZR1 option instead of the silver 10-spokes.

thanks for the replies everybody,

I definitely don't like the idea of giving extra attention to the polished wheels. I'm lazy.

So it looks like I'll get the chrome ones when I'm ready, but my money is going towards heads/cam first.

I don't care what you anyone says, chrome wheels are not the same as the coated stockers!

They do require extra attention everytime you wash the car!
But they look sick, so it's all good!

Please get them polished/chromed all the way through! Now that's the ticket!

I personally like the polished look. The only rim I like chrome is an ss/zr1 rim.

I have the chrome ZR1s on my car and they are pretty easy to clean compared to polished ones. I actually found a great way and easy way to clean them this weekend.

My wife bought that steem cleaner thing from one of the online shopping channels and she said that they demonstrated it on chrome wheels on tv. So i decided to give it a try.

Let me tell you, it is the easiest and best way to clean the rims. You just start at the top and steam clean em down. Use a soft towel to dry them off and they are done. Now hose to drag out, no chemicals, jsut safe easy steam.

What I like, is it got the little nooks and crevices around the outer lip that was a pain to clean before. Took me a total of 15 minutes to do all four from start to finish.
