Formula to Trans AM - Your thoughts?
#43
I'll retract my previous statement due to this picture
I had seen a couple previously, and I did not like the look of it at all.
I do think, however, that the TA wing does look better with the TA bumper. IMHO it still looks a little out of place with the Formula bumper. It's combining an aggressive wing with a subtle bumper.
I think the plan is (if I do end up changing anything):
TA Bumper
TA Side Skirts
Heritage TA spoiler, moulded in.
This is going to be a project and a half

If there was enough interest for pre-paid orders I could have this spoiler:
...made for you guys and gals. My CF guy does great stuff, is currently working on our Targa project and he has a 'Bird so I could see if we could get him to give it a shot IF there were actually enough people interested to fund it...

Also, for those interested in tackling it theirselves, everyone has tried to copy it using a Camaro Rk Sport 3-Piece spoiler or LG Motorsports/Freedom Design spoiler... I think that is the wrong way to go about it.
IMHO, it looks more like a modified second gen 'Bird spoiler than it does anything else. I'd take measurements and start there myself...

Probably set it up like this...
Assuming REGULAR PRICE on the item is $500.
We offer 10 people the chance to get it for $400 if they put down a pre-production non-refundable $100 deposit.
We get it made. If they like it they pay the remainding the $300 if they don't we try to help them find people to take their spots but no guaruntees.
It is a risk. If you want something new and different that's how it goes though. My friend Neil and I just took a risk with a lot of our money to see a targa get made... if you want something you make it happen

Thanks for the compliments. I know what you're trying to say. My car is by no means rare, rather it is far more rare than a TA. My plans are to do H/C before any more appearance mods. I'm just trying to see what the general consensus is here.
Also, I know I'd need to get a whole new hatch...which then brings up the thought of doing the Heritage TA spoiler (properly, of course, and actually mold it into the car). (See picture below)
Yes, it was an SLP option on the TA Firehawks. It's called the IROC wing.
I debated doing this for the longest time. Some guy then posted pictures of it done, and it looked (IMHO) terrible without the TA wing / side skirts. So that puts this idea out of the question.
Potential Spolier (but would be molded in.):
Formula / TA look (DopeFedZ's car):

If I had a formula I would go with this look because I don't particularly like the look of the rear on a formula or the low spoiler.

I'll run it by him when I get back from Vegas...
