need some advice taking off this body kit
I've decided to take this kit of finally, due to obvious reasons if you look at the handy work in the pictures (came with the car, not my fault) probably over the weekend. The front and back will be easy, but the parts im worried about are the side pieces.
The sides are from wings west, and here is all the info ive gathered by observation. its somehow just glued onto the car. on the back/underside of the kit, i see a black silicone type deal. im not too worried about that, ive researched that stuff and it comes off, with patience, but it comes off. the part that worries me is this.
as you can see from the pictures, they used something to fill the seam, maybe the same black silicone, and then painted over it.
my plan of attack, is to use a razor blade and cut the seam from the painted side, and then depending on how deep into the glue i can cut, maybe snap off the piece towards the bottom?
any helpful advice would be great

Wow, that's horrible.
The razor blade sounds okay as long as you don't hit the body of the car at all.
I would try to cut and pry it at the same time.
Most likely when you are done you will need to paint match the bottom of your car, unless that crap comes off fairly easily.
Good luck. . . . !

i would cut it as close to the ground fx that you could then try to pull the thick crap off the side of the car. if that doesnt work some heat may help. if all else fails carefully shave it down as close as possible.

I would use a razor to cut the kit away from the glue, and then go back and cut the glue from the body of the car. It will take more time that just using the blade to take the glue/kit off the car at the same time, but you can be more careful and precise doing it one step at a time. You can try a heat gun if you think it might help too

3m makes an adhesive remove, or you can get some go be gone from walmart but if they used panel bond or any other kind of epoxy it wont do much lets see some pics of the glue, did they prep it before glueing or just glue to the paint. if they glued it to the paint with no prep it should pull off.

here are some pics i just took, its kinda hard to tell so ill try and describe what i see. the glue is black and hard, some sections came right off, but alot stayed on. if i had to guess, it looks like they might have lightly sanded the panels before the glue. what is panel bond?

Panel bond is used to glue door skins roof skins and bedsides on its tuff ****, i would try peeling up a corner and seeing how easy it comes off. If you use a razor blade or putty knife make sure to run some tape right above and below the glue so you dont scratch anything around it.
